That's Not a Normal Hazy Summer Sky

Not A Normal Summer Haze

Our sky has been hazy for a few days now and it will continue as such for a while longer.

When the wind blows that haze carries more than just a tint. It also carries a fragrance of burning wood.

The effects of the west Coast wildfires have crossed the country and people are being warmed to protect themselves from the hyper haze.

At risk are people with allergies as well as anyone with respiratory ailments.  W

One would think that with a heavy rain the haze would clear out, but it is replaced with the winds coming from the west.

These photos are of the sky over Waterbury valley taken on a late afternoon.

We can only hope that the western fires get controlled and even then we will feel the results long after that.

It is really remarkable that the smoke makes it that far.  Ironically, we have not had much haze ourselves yet.  Last year was much worse for us.  We had ash falling from the sky.

ED,

This is nothing new to us.  Lucky for us, the fires in California are way up North...And teams are fighting them...Rain would be a big help up there. A

Yep, the smoke is everywhere. This has been an extremely hot and dry year for the west.

Thanks for sharing Ed! Another proof what happens in one part of the world affects everyone else!

That sounds so crazy that smoke could travel that far, I always thought it dissipated after a while.

Hello Ed,  we have hazy early in the morning or later before dusk and it is the smoke coming over the mountains and hitting Denver.

Ed, this is quite normal in the summer for Denver.   Amazing the smoke can travel so far East!   There are times the haze is so thick, you cannot see the mountains.

Ed hard to believe that fires 3,000 miles away would be impacting our air quality here in New England, but as very evident by your pictures, they are.

I'm stunned that smoke travels that far. People should be aware when they are outside, especially those with breathing issues.
