Customer Service...It Still Matters
If you read most service-oriented websites or marketing pieces, you’ll see that excellent customer service is always highlighted.
Customer service though isn’t just a label you place in your marketing material or talk about on social media. It’s more than just a part of your mission statement.
Customer service should be what you offer...who you are. It should be ingrained in every employee or team player from the top down.
What You Can Do…
Make sure that your employees or team members are informed and educated on pricing, current listings, services, etc.
How many times have you been in a retail store and the clerk seemed to have no idea about the merchandise or what or was not on sale? Or, the clerk had no clue about what they were selling.
Remember that every employee or team member is a representative of your business...for better or for worse.
Recently I’ve visited two well-known chain fast-food places. The food was consistent with the big-name chains, however, the customer service was non-existent. I took a peek at Yelp and the reviews were consistent with my experience.
This is their front line...the first impression for the chain! I have to wonder if management knows or cares.
Always remember that good Customer Service means that sometimes you’re not going to get paid for what you do.
I’ve read so many posts here of agents who go above and beyond to help a client or even would-be client knowing they would not be paid for their services. (Maybe not paid directly but perhaps paid with referrals down the road!)
And when in doubt I say fall back to the Golden Rule...treat your customers/clients as you would want to be treated.
Have you ever walked out of a store feeling good because the staff treated you with kindness and respect, listening to what you had to say! This is what most people want!
We are not the only ones who do what we do. We have to be able to offer them more than what others who do what we do offer.
Your clients will return because of YOU and the service you provide.
