That Trip

To The Thesaurus

And Beyond. . .

If history repeats itself,

and the unexpected always happens

how incapable must Man be of learning from experience.

George Bernard Shaw

I am not sure when I first knew of this quote but

I did recall previously seeing it as it recently reappeared for me.  Things happen for many reasons and for seemingly no reason at all.

Conversations and thoughts and everyday occurrences happen in much the same way.  Posts too.  Earlier this week I mentioned the randomness of it all so I guess this may be a bit of redundancy to some but for me I think of it as an ongoing and continuing conversation. Or maybe that's just my "spin" on the topic.

Throughout the course of a day, I may search that vast personal memory vault searching through the clutter and the cobwebs in hopes of connecting related and things that seem to be unrelated.

Occasionally, I take a detour to the dictionary to double

check my spelling or the proper usage of a word.  I admit I also look at the suggestion and say phooey or some other remark dismissing the recommendation.  A trip to the thesaurus might give me some alternatives that better suit my purpose.  And then there are synonyms(maybe even an antonym while(or is it whilst, Nick Vandekar, 610-203-4543?) that might be a better choice.

Naturally, there are those times when a single word doesn’t seem right - maybe a group of words assembled together in a quote would be better.  And, like many throughout ActiveRainLand, I like quotes so I include them in my posts occasionally.

My own history tells me that taking trips here and there plus places in between can deliver some expected as well as a few unexpected surprises.

As I look through history (I was watching a YouTube from 1984 yesterday) I believe we do not (now will we ever) learn from history.

The little guy is the younger you doing 'his' thing - pondering!  So cute!  And I'm not so sure some people ever learn from things......if they did it wouldn't be so messed up right now.  On to a more pleasant pondering......Life is good and let'e keep it that way!

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty - it's a bit odd to think of watching a YouTube clip about 1984 in some weird kinda Orwellian way.

Anna Banana Kruchten CRS, CRB, Phoenix Broker - I know what you mean, put those good thoughts(and some good vibrations) "out there".

Hi Michael - I recently learned that there is a continuum on how people use knowledge.  Some rely on expereince to teach and just search for info as needed.  Others on the oposite end love to research and analyze.  Both sides have advantages and disadvantages.

When I get tripped up, the thesaurus or online dictionary helps me to navigate Michael.  Am also thankful that a good night's rest erases useless information to make room for more to make its way in.

Michael- what's interesting is when you look up a word that you thought you knew and find out you didn't know it after all.

Grant Schneider - that sounds interesting.  Might this become a topic for a post?  I apologize if it has already and I don't recall it even though I regularly follow your posts.

Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! - when one skillfully follows their personal navigation system they can achieve much.

Kathy Streib - I know!  I often find that.  That keeps me always learning.   And watching. . .

The 'same' incident is seen differently by people there at the very same moment.  Why would we not reflect on something differently as our perspective changes with our experiences and age?   Mark

Mark Don McInnes, Sandpoint - it is good to think we are always learning and growing.  It's even nicer when that turns out to be true.

Hi Michael Jacobs - I get stuck sometimes trying to find the correct word. One of my most used words is great so I have a thesaurus page that I use to find a similar word.

Morning Michael.

Like you, for me anyway on a daily basis my thoughts are hitting a brick wall.  Ask me about something that happened 3-30 years ago and I'm good.  Things that happened yesterday, not a clue.

Michael Jacobs - I can still remember the day I discovered and soon owned my own thesaurus. If you're going to have your own personal library, there are resources you must have: Dictionary and a Thesaurus.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® - I know what you mean.  Making it seem natural is also an issue for me at times.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS -  and I believe that road doesn't pass by Kansas either.

James Dray - I get that!   I wonder where some of that stuff in my memory vault "hides" yet resurfaces at somewhat odd times.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - as I eliminate things from life, I tend to use that brutal(but necessary) de-cluttering method. Unfortunately(or is it fortunate) that my experience as well as other available online sources have replaced some "stuff" that was once quite common.  Progress?  I wonder but it's a reality that I, and others, face.
