A mixed-use neighborhood in the Greater Wilshire / Hancock Park region of Los Angeles, California, Brookside is located in the southwest part of the district. There's a neighborhood in Los Angeles that's positioned between Wilshire Boulevard and W Olympic Boulevard to the north and south respectively. S Highland Avenue forms the western boundary of the suburb, while Fremont Place forms the eastern border. The northern part of Brookside, along Wilshire Boulevard, is primarily commercial, while being primarily residential. Fremont Place is located on the east side of the area, on the edge of downtown. Historic gated neighborhood Fremont Place is noted for its white pillar entryway. The majority of Brookside's 400 homes were built by Rimpau Estate Co. in the 1920's. The community also offers custom-built homes to replace these older homes. Three to four bedrooms and one or two bathrooms are common in these houses, which are often built on a single level with an open floor plan or bungalow-style layouts. Spanish, Stucco, Craftsman, Colonial, Contemporary, Cottage, Tudor, and Victorian are some of the architectural styles in the area. The neighborhood's curb appeal is enhanced by the variety of architectural types and tree-lined streets. For typical single-family homes, property values in the neighborhood range from $1.7 million to $3 million, while luxury properties in Fremont Place cost $5 million to $10 million.
