Feng Shui New York Renovations: Why Call a Feng Shui Consultant? by Feng Shui Long Island & New York City

Feng Shui New York Renovations

My Feng Shui Consultation today was on Long Island's wonderful town of Huntington, New York.  If you are familiar with Long Island at all, you're probably aware of this town and it's special qualities.  It's almost like a little piece of New York City on Long Island:  quaint little shops, wonderful places to eat. At night, the town is still "hopping."  There are bars and restaurants and wonderful older theaters-and it's bookstores.  I am Books and The Book Revue are two favorites with something always going on.

My client's today were fantastic, completely in touch with Feng Shui and well read on the subject but....you guessed it, perhaps, they were confused.  I explained about the different schools of Feng Shui, the different methods we use and the different perspectives we sometimes have.

I asked for their particular reason for calling for a Feng Shui Consultation because things in their lives were going well.  They would both like to make some career changes but other then that, all seemed fine.  They had called because they wanted to make renovations to their home and wanted to make sure it wouldn't throw the wonderful energy they felt inside "out of balance."

It often happens in renovations.  Feng Shui Consultants like to bless prior to major renovations for the simple reason that the energy is moving so rapidly during renovations in a home or business, it can stir up temporary chaos.  We also want to make sure things go well, work comes off in the manner it's supposed to with no unforeseen difficulties.

After teaching them about the topics and principles of Feng Shui, we evaluate both the outside and inside and make suggestions for placements, elements, things to do to "Get their Name out to the Universe" and particularly in this case, for their Career areas.  My client was from Lebanon and I was interested to hear of the strong beliefs in Feng Shui over there.  He is also quite a diverse and talented person and I hope to show some of his handmade, fascinating artwork in an upcoming Localism post.

*Stuck in the middle of Renovations

Feng Shui Renovations in New York by Feng Shui Long Island Consultant

*The WEALTH area...OUCH! (These clients were "stuck"  in the middle of renovations--a job was lost and the money ran out.  Within a short time after the Feng Shui Consultation a new job was found and all the work was completed!).

In making suggestions and speaking to both of these people at length while explaining my reasoning behind the suggestions, it was easy to see they both "got it."  I asked them later if it all made sense and it completely did, they resonated with the suggestions because they understood the INTENTIONS behind them.  Explaining to your clients the "whys" of your suggestions works well in ANY business and it was no exception in this case. They are more likely to take your suggestions because they understand another perspective.

I am thrilled that I will be going back after the renovations and have been given permission to use both before and after pictures which will show the renovations as well as BALANCE in the home.  The impacts of Feng Shui are sometimes seen but ALWAYS felt!

I too..will look forward to the before and after pictures. i often wonder what you would think of my little townhouse...as small as it is...we are not cluttered and have everything in it's place and a good flow. I even took off the bathroom door (if anyone does come over they just have to close the bedroom door :)  because it was cramping our style.

Oh...got off track there. :)  Anyway, I love to see your before and after pics and it sure is nice to be able to compare!

Carole,
It seems to me that people from other parts of the world are more in tune with Feng Shui than most Americans.  Is that your experience?  These people are fortunate to have found you to help them prepare their space for the renovations.

Carole--It is interesting to see that during renovations, that can take a very long time in many cases, will throw off the Feng Shui energy of a home. Imagine it works the same for people getting ready to sell when everything is all over the place as they get their homes staged and set to list. People always ask if they should wait until everything is complete before listing their home...Of course the answer is yes...wait until everything looks picture perfect. Now there is one more reason to wait.

Carole,

I'd never thought of how renovations may bring on negative energy before...it definitely sounds like a good idea to consult a feng shui expert prior to doing renovations and I'm glad to hear your consultation with them has helped.

I'm looking forward to seeing the before and after photos!

Carole, I'm now a Feng Shui believer- when you do our house, you are welcomed to use the before and afters (especially when we find that we need to relocate the back door, which faces the front door)- I knew that there was a reason that the money just seems to come and go, instead of resting comfortably in a bank account!! Anyone in NY considering FS would be quite fortunate to find you-

Gary, That home really does have good energy and they are doing so well, it's always a good idea to get a Feng Shui opinion on what you're planning to do for a renovation.

Sally, I remember seeing one shot of your lovely little townhouse and it looked and felt just fine!  I'm sure you know that already or I hope you do!

Cristal, The renovations may take awhile but I'll be delighted to show them, this house was lovely and so were the people who lived in it.

Liz, I hope to have my very own EBook finished soon (and VERY happy about it :)  I like books by Karen Kingston who makes Feng Shui easy to understand.

Fred,That's actually a wonderful idea but I haven't gotten to it yet.  My days and nights have been hectic for the last few weeks...But I will have to go back and check out yours, I'm sure it's terrific!

Cynthia, I do get people literally from all over the world but I believe America was a little late in coming to believe in Feng Shui---it is a widely held belief in so many countries.

Teri, When you move the energy that fast (as in renovating or selling) it can become off balance for sure.  There sometimes is a  period of upheaval before all settles down again.  It's one of the things we hope to prevent with Blessings.

Jo, Sometimes in trying to improve a home we can disturb a good flow of energy.  Call a feng Shui consultant in prior is recommended to keep a good flow (or even improve it) and to bless and clear that all goes well with it.

Marie, I've unfortunately seen it happen....and then some people are living under construction for a long time.  The photos above were from a client who had been living that way for well over a year.

Laurie, There is no need to move your door, there are simple and INEXPENSIVE things we do to fix things such as the doors in alignment.  It's a huge misconception that you will have to spend lots of money.  And you have just the most beautiful granddaughter I have ever seen!!  A HUGE Congratulations again!

Joan, Don't you hate that?  You leave a comment and then you have to do it all over again?  As if you weren't busy enough!!

As always, a hidden little gem in there for us agents to absorb and use - this is a fascinating post, Carole.  I'm always amazed at what you can accomplish and yet you make it seem so simple!
