Fast Growing Tree Varieties for Mature Trees in Less Time
As a homeowner, you will likely want to plant some trees in your lawn for visual interest, especially if you have a new home and have just established the grass of choice. Trees add a sense of height to any lot and beautify your landscape. You can choose from some varieties of fast-growing trees that will not only mature quickly so you can have tall and beautiful trees with interest quickly.
Tulip Trees
This fantastic, fast-growing tree has visual interest from spring to fall. It proliferates in almost all climates and adapts to soil types while being disease and pest-resistant. In summer, the bright green leaves stand out. They stand upright, like a tulip flower on the branches, and then the blooms develop into a bright and cheerful yellow color. In the fall, before the leaves fall, they turn bright glowing gold. The mature height is about 70 feet tall, and it can grow up to 6 feet taller in a year. The mature width is 30 to 40 feet wide, and it grows best in full to partial sunlight.
Maple Trees
Maple trees are beautiful and majestic, fast-growing trees. Many varieties produce different colors of vibrant leaves in the fall. Maple trees sport dark brown bark, small, winged fruit, and the twigs are narrow and reddish-brown. The green lobed leaves turn into wonderful specimen trees in the fall when they turn yellow, orange, red, or burgundy. Maple trees can grow up to a stately height of 150 feet tall. The sugar maple produces sweet maple syrup from the tree sap. Other maples produce sap also, but it isn't as sweet. The maple leaves have 11 points and deep indentions, and it is the official tree of Canada. A maple tree can grow up to 3 feet taller per year and reach 40 to 60 feet tall and 40 to 60 feet wide in optimal conditions.
Poplar Trees
Poplar trees are loved for their stylish colored bark. They have rounded to triangular-shaped leaves with bark that can be white, gray, or black. The most popular poplar trees have white bark and white and green leaves. Some varieties have a fresh balsam scent to them. Poplar trees can grow to 20 to 165 feet tall and up to 70 feet wide. They are ornamental trees with large canopies, making them an excellent fast-growing tree to provide shade in your lawn. Poplar trees can grow up to 4 feet per year across all of the different varieties.
River Birch Trees
As the name implies, river birch trees grow naturally along riverbanks, and they can be planted as a landscape tree anywhere in the United States. It proliferates and tolerates wetness as well and some drought. It is relatively resistant to the birch borer. It's categorized by an attractive back with curls in it and spreading limbs. River birch sports glossy green leaves that are about 2 to 3 inches long and triangular-shaped. In April and May, it produces brown and green catkins. After the female catkins mature in May or June, it yields many nutlets to reseed itself. The bark turns a cinnamon color as the tree matures, and it may be a single trunk or a multi-stemmed tree. River birch trees grow in a beautiful oval shape. River birch trees grow well in any soil from full sun to partial shade. They may grow from 13 inches to 24 inches taller per year and mature at the height of 40 to 70 feet and a spread of 40 to 60 feet.

Hi Norma - when I was growing up we had tulip poplar trees on our property line.  The grow fast but didn't live long.

Grant Schneider I agree they do not seem to last long at all.  I tend to try and plant both that way when the tulips tree dies out the other trees are already there growing.  Have a wonderful Monday!

Hello Norma,  I have to remind people that planting a tree close to a sewer line is not the best thing to do.

Will Hamm yes, that is so important because some people don't remember that important detail that can be disastrous.  Have a wonderful Monday!
