The Power

Of An ActiveRain ReBlog. . .

While I don’t participate in the ActiveRain practice of re-blogging on a structured basis, I do understand how the power of doing so might attract members.

The benefits extend beyond the points that can accumulate over time but also serve as a way to sort through pages upon pages of the blog roll when searching through it can be quite cumbersome, sometimes mind-numbing or even overwhelming when looking for posts to read.

In fact prior to ActiveRain, I am not sure I was aware of the word “reblog” let alone anyone who might do it.  Enlightenment on many levels is part of this experience, right?

Kathy Streib - I think that the observation of your Sunday weekly posts as a mater reblog can definitely be made.

Nina Hollander, Broker - I am not sure when I first heard the term phishing but you're right about the additional vocabulary that this century has introduced to us.

Hi Michael Jacobs, reblog was a word I learned here in the rain as well. I very seldom reblog a post, I just don't think about it, perhaps time to change that.

Beth Atalay - we each find things that "work" for us and our blogging style.  Yeah, I guess that is developed over time.  Little could I ever imagine, that was a possibility but like words previously unknown, such things do occur.

Michael Jacobs Your post gave me a geniune smile. I might have re-blogged (note that I am using the hyphen, but you didn't?) years ago, but haven't of late!

Wendy Rulnick - hyphen or no hyphen is definitely a concern when placing reblog(re-blog) in any context.  Spellcheck seems to prefer that dash but what do "they" know?   🤣

A post worthy of a re-blog may have a message that would get lost in the rolls, and should be placed as to get maximum exposure.  Posting  a re-blog within an hour of the original just steals the value and robs the original author.

Michael like you I have probably can count on two hands how many times I did a re-blog in the past 10+ years I have been on AR... needless to say some find it a quick and easy way to post as well as recognize the writer so there are a couple of pros to what you and I do not take advantage of, Endre

Morning Michael.

I've had it happen to me, rarely but it does happen.  While I believe I've never re-blogged a post I won't bank on it.  Now, where was I headed with this, not a clue.

Spellcheck always wants to correct my spelling of reblog, haha.  So, I guess it isn't really a word, yet it is a thing in ActiveRain.

Michael Jacobs - on rare occasions if it was something important, I did reblog a post but did not allow others to comment to me but rather directly to the author of the post.

I follow Broker rules and don't allow others to blog my own posts.

Before AR, I had no idea what a blog was, let along a reblog Michael. I think I have only done this two times throughout the years, and I will probably continue on this road...

Ed Silva - I agree with you - an immediate reblog of a post defeats the purpose in my opinion.

Rocky Dickerson - not likely any.  Although I could have mentioned Brian England in this post to help the possibilities of a reblog as Brian loves to see his name in print.  🤣

Endre Barath, Jr. - I know there are many who think/do all kinds of things that I(and you) don't participate.  The possibilities are definitely endless and so are the reasons why.

James Dray - that makes sense to me.

Brian England - and the example you share is only one.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - time on this planet as well time spent on this site have taught me many things.  And I am still learning.

Lawrence "Larry" & Sheila Agranoff. Cell: 631-805-4400 - introductions to words, concepts and, of course, people are just some of ways ActiveRain has acquainted us with all sorts of things.

The re-blog feature is a great feature....for both the original blogger and the one sharing it. I don't blog often enough now, but when I was blogging regularly I usually included a reblog now and then.

Who knew 20 years ago what a 'blog' even was, Michael...muchless RE-blog!! It truly is a wonderful way to pay it forward. Roy Kelley is wonderful at doing that quite often.

I'm not good at re-blogging but, I do enjoy that others do and that Carol Williams and Kathy Streib share their golden nugget posts as I frequently miss them.

Debe Maxwell, CRS - even as ActiveRain participation seems to decrease(at least anecdotally) Carol and Kathy help shed additional exposure to posts as do Roy and many other members who practice re-blogging.
