National Jelly Roll Day
For most people, a Jelly Roll is a thin layer of cake with jelly and cream filling rolled up into a sweet treat!! However, I'm a quilter and for those quilters in the world, a Jelly Roll could very well be a sweet treat of another sort. For us, a jelly roll is a roll of fabric that is comprised of 40-42 2.5" strips by the width of fabric (40-44") rolled into a Jelly Roll. Many fabric manufacturers will take 2 or 3 pieces of each fabric in a line and make a Jelly Roll out of them.
Designers have been designing quilts and accessory patterns exclusively to be used for Jelly Rolls and companies like Missouri Star Quilt Company or Jordan Fabrics have many online tutorials on how to use them too. I was at my local quilt shop, Bear's Paw Fabrics, this morning and they have a sale on Jelly Rolls today just to celebrate National Jelly Roll Day!! Whichever sweet treat you decide upon, enjoy!!
