The Argyle Feed and Hardware Store in Argyle, TX is a great place to shop for Horse Feed, Pet Food, Stihl Products, Insecticide, Lawn and Garden, and Hardware.

Inside the Argyle Feed and Hardware Store is a Cat Clerk that embodies Classic Customer Care. Attributes that were noticeable:

  • Polite
  • Alert
  • Licensed
  • Clean
  • Watchful
  • Odor Free
  • Calm

What I liked best? The Cat Clerk doesn't follow a customer around like a puppy dog, panting as if they were desperate for food and water, and will never ask you every couple of seconds, questions such as:

  1. What are you looking for?
  2. Can I help you find something?
  3. Did you find what you were looking for?
  4. What didn't you like?

The Cat Clerk at Feed and Hardware in Argyle is keenly alert and well trained knowing if a customer needs help, they will ask.

People in sales that provide Classic Customer Care has values. They provide an environment that's clean, organized, knows their products, understands the value in providing quality services. Sales Agents who make shopping difficult for their customers don't last. A Classic Customer Care Sales Agent models behavior that is inclusive, respectful, and not rude.

A great Sales Agent takes time to know, like, and understand people and products, and will always provide Classic Customer Care ---Patricia Feager

Michael Jacobs - Absolutely! That's the reason why I was motivated to use the Cat Clerk for this analogy. Confidence wins over being a scaredy cat.

Patricia,

Your analogy of the cat clerk is perfect.  Like many I dislike clerks who follow me around! I usually high tail it our of the store.  Happy Monday.  A

Hi Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP, if a sales clerk follows me around, even if I had intentions of making a purchase, I walk out of the store. If there was a Cat Clerk in a store, I will be the one to follow him/her around and most likely annoy that adorable Cat Clerk.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel - I do not like anyone following me around either. When I tell someone I am just looking and if I need something I'll ask for them, and they don't listen, I exit immediately.

Good morning, Patricia... any place of business with a resident cat clerk can count on my patronage! And I'd probably be the person following the cat around! :)

I love that feline clerk, Patricia.  At our local Home Depot, there is a cat by the name of Thomas.  He has lived on the premises for years.  I always enjoy petting him when I see him there!

Patricia the problem with the stores who ask all these questions:

  1. What are you looking for?
  2. Can I help you find something?
  3. Did you find what you were looking for?
  4. What didn't you like?

Is they are never around when you do want answers to those questions.

Awww, what a cute clerk! And yes, knowing when to let someone wander around and look, and when to offer advice and guidance, are key attributes.

That is certainly the way that customer service should be and I always prefer to know someone is there when I need them rather than having someone hover over me.

Always a great reminder to those in sales,  ... too often sales staff tend to define what they believe is Customer service, rather than finding out what the consumer/customer defines what is Customer Care service!!
