Zoom Call With Andrea Bedard 9.21.2021
The Zoom call for this week was interesting as it was a recount of the trials and tribulations that brought fellow Rainer Andrea Bedard to her present position as real estate professional and single mother of 2 daughters, whom she affection ally calls her Lemon Drops.
Andrea found herself in a situation as a military spouse of needing to occupy her time and also subsidize her income. As she defines her situation at the time:
- a single mother of 2
- ex military spouse
- domestic violence survivor
- an immigrant
- and in 2004 a real estate professional
As is so common with people, life's challenges can be overwhelming and the manner in which all attempt to overcome can vary. The inner strength we have drives us to seek assistance in stabilizing our lives, whether it be from close friends, therapists, or clergy. Not everyone has the ability or the strength to slug their way through the obstacles and challenges we can encounter in our lives.
Andrea had her hands full and found the help she needed to right her ship and take care of her 'Lemon drops'. She found a sympathetic broker who allows her to travel back to Germany to visit her family and also supports her local activities while she is away.
She has also found a close and cherished resource in Margaret Rome to provide a kind ear and maybe also some sound advice when requested.
Andrea was specific in calling on different strategies she has used to salvage deals that had unique obstacles. Perseverance was the common thread and the tenacity she required to make people do their jobs to get the transactions to a closing table.
She proudly talked about getting a bank to close a deal on a Saturday under the threat of having the bank pay for storage and lodging for the sellers due to their feet dragging. Not many agents can insist on a Saturday close of escrow, yet she described how she pulled it off.
She did spend time to discuss the books she has read and the help she has gotten along the way to help her in stabilizing her life. Taking the time to take care of oneself is a priority as we cannot help others if we are not 'whole" ourselves.
Separate work time from personal time to keep our sanity.
Support: know who can offer what and when.
Say No: Don't try to take on all and still feel good when you don't accept everything.
Delegate: Know who to turn to for help, Don't try to do it all.
