Zoom Topic ~ Placing a Successful Referral ~

Real Estate Broker/Owner with Mackintosh REALTORS 82894
Through the years I have attended countless networking events, NAR Conventions, and Relocation Conferences. The round table discussions at these events I find to be very similar to the Zoom meetings I have attended. Some of the best ideas I have come across were picked up at round table discussions.
The ActiveRain Community is so fortunate to have so many skilled real estate professionals who can share a wealth of experiences.
It would be great to comprise a panel discussion of AR members sharing their experiences of placing successful referrals. There are so many avenues to find the right match. The AR Leadership Board, CRS , GRI or your relocation network / franchise affiliation.
Most agents I know love to receive referrals, but when sending a lead so many lack the skill to find the right agent to close the deal.
Serving as our company's Relocation Director for many years I have used many resources to find the right match to place and assign referrals. Over the years I have made many good friends speaking with other Relocation Directors, coordinators and agents discussing referrals. Where one network may have a void in a particular area you are most likely to find a match in another or the AR Leader board.
By calling the Relocation Director at a company you are able to find the agent who knows a certain neighborhood or has the personality that will match well with the Buyer or Seller.
Third party / Cooperate referrals require more detail and an agent handling this type of lead are required to be familiar with ( ERC ) Employee Relocation Council BMA forms and procedures.
As in everything you do, you must give to receive.
Whether you belong to the local Chamber of Commerce , BNI Group, CRS or ActiveRain, the more you show up the better chance someone will think of you when it is time to refer a lead.
                      Participation is the key!

Buzz I have received a Referral from Active Rain and the clients still rave about me just ask the referring agent.... now with that said I sent out a referral within my network, no financial benefit just a "thank you would have been great" to another agent in my network.... sadly the Active Rain Agent told him that she is Retired and forgot to mention it on Active Rain that she was retired... you think I got a call saying so sorry thank you for thinking of me???:) No nothing even though she told the agent who had the referral she will reach out to me....Endre

Endre Barath, Jr. it is great to hear the success stories of referrals and where they initially came from. I like to pick up the phone and vet the destination agent when sending a referral and always remember to thank someone for sending a lead or doing a good job !

I think this would be a great topic for a future zoom meeting and ActiveRain has always been a place that I have used when I have an out-of-state referral.

Hi Buzz- I too think this would be a wonderful topic for a ZOOM meeting. One of the benefits here is the possibility of referrals.

Good morning Buzz. As a sales manager for a company with overlapping office service areas, I worked closely with our relacation department and placed referrals carefully. This would be a great topic for a Zoom meeting here in the Rain even though I am unable to attend. Enjoy your day.

Buzz I have been giving and receiving referrals for many, many years.  I particularily appreciate knowing so many AR members and CRS members personally and I know how they run their business as well as treat people.Nothing better than happy clients that are well taken care of by another agent.

So very true!   GREAT POST!  I do quite a bit of research before referring a realtor.  The last thing is to call that realtor and see how fast they call me back.

One such referral for a friend that was from the town I was helping her find an agent ended up working very well.  The realtor ended up knowing my client and they entire trasaction went seamlessly.  The big atta boy came at the end when my friend told everyone else in our circle how well that worked out.  Couldn't ask for better advertising!

Jan Green I had a similar referral experience. When I sold a horse farm here in Md and the Buyers were moving to SC. The Company I referred them to assigned an agent that was an acquaintance through the horse community when she previously lived in Md and knew the Buyers.
