Most Saturdays, other than a quick jaunt to the wine country early in the morning, we have a busy schedule and work through the afternoon. This includes attending a two hour discussion.
We had recently been told that in Lompoc* was a wonderful restaurant and bakery called Sissy's Uptown Cafe. Lompoc is about an hour's drive from our home. Nearby is Vanderberg Air Force base.
*Lompoc is a city in Santa Barbara County, California. Located on the Central Coast, Lompoc had a population of 42,434 in the 2010 census. Lompoc has been inhabited for thousands of years by the Chumash people, who called the area Lum Poc, meaning "stagnant waters" or "lagoon" in the local Purisimeño language.Wikipedia
The food was delicious, the atmosphere was fun and friendly. It reminded us of small town places. Just good food and good people.
We chatted with two ladies who worked at the base, and they shared that when Space X had a launch, there were Teslas parked for blocks and blocks...(Space X is Elon Musk's company).
As we walked around the town we saw amazing murals on building walls. There is even an art alley, pictured above. I will be sharing more in another post.
It was so nice to take a whole day off. We got home in time to make dinner. Wishing everyone a wonderful Thursday!
