How to Choose Quality Bed Linens

Real Estate Agent with Daily Real Estate Update

Beautiful, nice to the touch, and high-quality bedding is one of the most important factors contributing to a sound and healthy sleep. At first glance, selecting linen may seem like an easy thing, yet you need to follow simple tips to make the right choice and ensure a comfortable environment.

Pay Attention to the Material from Which the Bedding Is Made

By composition, fabrics are divided into:

  • natural (cotton, linen, wool, silk,)
  • artificial (fleece, microfiber, viscose silk)
  • blended fabrics (linen + cotton, silk + cotton, cotton + polyester, etc.)

Natural fabrics use materials of natural origin and are a priority choice for most buyers. After all, this bedclothing can give absolute comfort to the body, regardless of the season. The most popular bed linen is considered to be made of cotton, due to its hygroscopicity, affordability, and durability.

There are also fabrics made from non-natural elements (mainly polyester) and from a mixture of natural and non-natural materials. They cannot deliver those pleasant sensations when touching them, but they have greater durability.

Always Consider the Density of the Fabric

An important indicator of bed linen quality is the density of fibers per 1 cm2. It depends both on the thickness of the threads themselves and on the way they are woven. For natural fabrics, the average will be 50-65 fibers. Their number is difficult to determine by eye; however, loosely sewn tissue is recognized without problems. Conscientious manufacturers usually indicate the density of their material on the label.

Select By Color and Smell

The color of bed linen is usually chosen according to personal preferences or by adjusting it to the overall tone of the room. But do not take it lightly because the color of linen can also determine its quality. So, the threads should correspond to the main shade of the fabric, while fibers of different colors may signalize poor manufacturing quality. Good linen should not ooze the smell of chemicals, mold, and dampness. This may indicate a high amount of harmful substances in the dye, and such linen instantly fades after washing.

Now, it will not be difficult for you to choose bed linen from a head-spinning assortment of quality bedclothes available at Keep these simple tips in mind, and your purchase will delight you for a long time.

Thanks for a great post, with good info. I personally would not consider sheets made out of anything but cotton
