REMEMBRANCE OF AR MEMBERS- STAY SAFE & HEALTHY

By
Real Estate Agent with DFW FINE PROPERTIES 0506509

Sometimes something comes along and you don't know why it catches your eye, like this butterfly at the edge of my driveway. I didn't want to run over the butterfly, so I got out of my car to get a closer look. It was definitely alive and each time I got closer, it had lift off; then landed just a little bit further.

This morning I woke up thinking about the people on AR whose spirits are still alive. Here are just a few I'd like to keep in remembrance, and I hope you will too:

LOTTIE KENDALL

In response to a January 2016 AR Challenge by Lynn B. Friedman CRS Atlanta, GA 404-939-2727, Lottie explained the principal of the Weltanschauung of ActiveRain.

"ActiveRain believes that it is in the best interests of real estate professionals to build a community that is focused on educating one another.” Newbie's and all AR members can read all about it if you click on the link above. Lottie always had a positive attitude. There's a post she wrote about remembering a trip she took to the Swiss Alps and in the photograph, she stood on her head. In the backdrop where the Alps and Lottie reminded us to "Make it a Glorious Day!' Lottie Kendall will be remembered for 'building a community that is focused on educating one another.'

SUSAN HAUGHTON

Susan was honestly delightful! She had a great sense of humor, good dreams, a member of Anna Banana Kruchten CRS, CRB, Phoenix Broker BananaTude group, and she had really good AR friends including in her personal life too. Susan could make you laugh at yourself as she often made true confessions such as in her opening statement in that great post called "November, 30 Posts in 30 Days, Blogging Challenge on 10/30/2012" which she shines a spotlight on her dear friend and Colleague, Chris Ann Cleland:

"I think Chris Ann came up with this idea solely to push my buttons, because she knows I have fallen off the blogging bandwagon lately.  Seriously, folks, if you are having a hard time staying motivated to blog, here's what I plan to do.  Take it one day at a time. Don't think of it as 30 posts, just do one, then do another and then another...before you know it, you're done!  Now, what day is this?  Do I have to start today?  LOL  Happy posting, everyone!"

Always remember, here on ActiveRain you can always find someone to pull you up by the bootstraps and encourage you to keep on writing. AR isn't perfect; neither are we. Together we do more of our share to educate, make friends for life, and we should never feel ashamed if we admit that we 'have fallen off the blogging bandwagon lately.'

LOU LUDWIG

Even more than someone in Sales and Management, Consultant, Success Coach, Speaker, and Trainer, Lou was a great motivator and friend to all. He never got into a tit for tat but he will always be fondly remembered as a respected gentleman. In all the years he was on ActiveRain he left pearls of wisdom and he had a business side too!

In a post called "ActiveRain + A Telephone Call = A Referral," he was excited about a phone call between himself in FL and a caller from CA. Because 2010 was the year I started on ActiveRain, he gave me hope. Like all members of AR, we hope to get referrals. What I learned is that blogging on AR can result in a referral from the East Coast to the West Coast and everywhere in between. Throughout the years on ActiveRain he remained true to who he was, a great motivator. Whenever he wrote he scattered pearls and you can too!

CLINT MCKIE

Clint McKie from Carlsbad, NM, Home and Commercial Inspector wore many hats and this got me thinking, I remember the names of many local home inspectors, but I can't remember the face of any local home inspectors, except for AR formerly active member, Michael Thornton. Michael came to Dallas for business several years ago and we met up in Dallas for lunch. By the lines on Michael's face, and the speed at which he walked, I remember thinking to myself, Home Inspectors don't get all the attention they deserve and they work hard for a living. Inspectors are never too tired to schedule an appointment, climb up the ladder to inspect a roof or down into basements or crawl spaces. They know a lot about every component in a home, especially when it comes to safety.

Clint is missed because he always provided educational posts on home inspections, especially when it comes to safety issues. I don't remember how or when exactly he died, but he always wrote interesting Titles that got my attention on his posts. Maybe, subconsciously, the handwriting was on the wall, such as when he wrote an interesting Title called "I'm Tired and Giving Up," on 4/10/2014.

"I'm tired and giving up.

Over the years, there is a lot to be proud of.

Many times when inspecting I find issues that are a safety issue's that could be life threatening."

This makes me feel good for the home owners. Not that they have repairs to make, but the possible life saving issue were found."

Based on what was written by Clint McKie, I'm also reminded of a post this year written by Scott Seaton Jr. Bourbonnais Kankakee IL Home Inspector who mentioned he was absent from AR because he had a heart attack. Home Inspectors are the doctors for home construction but when it comes to all of us as human beings, there are a lot of red flags that tells us to take care of our health and to pay attention when there are warning signals.

In conclusion, let's ALL take better care of ourselves. I think we are all tired, but we really shouldn't give up ---Patricia Feager

Patricia, thank you for doing this. I interacted with most on this list. It's sad in so many ways, but of course, none of us get out of this life alive. I guess that's a good reason to live it to the fullest. There was a lot of brain trust lost in that list that will be missed.

Thanks Patricia, I followed many of these people here in the rain. There are still others that I followed that are no longer with us and most of your list and others I am thinking about made a real contribution here on Activerain.

Hello Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP - I knew about the passing of only a few of the additional names added to this post.  They are all part of the AR family. I spoke with Noah many times.

Mike Cooper, Broker VA,WV, MD - I wasn't here on AR when it all began but I got here as quickly as I could. I'm guessing my experience was very similar to many, including those that are just getting started.

I can only imagine how dreamlike and otherworldly it seamed. At least that was true for me. With time this was much more than an AR Blog - it became as you described 'brain trust!' As individuals began to follow others, familiar faces, virtual voices, and details about business and news breaking stories were filling up pages with specific details, grand imagination, beautiful photography, outstanding stats and marketing ideas, and what continues to be a collection of heroic accomplishments from north to south, east to west, and the entire central parts of the United States.

May we keep those who did and those who continue to inspire us in our hearts with deeply embedded gratitude. My wish is that no matter how many years go by, this platform of great people remain united.

Amen, Patricia. I've been blessed by every in person encounter I've had with an AR member, but I'm equally blessed by those I haven't. Maybe one day, I'll pull a Carol Williams and do a cross country jaunt to meet more.

Mike Frazier - In someway, ActiveRain has become a dynasty, a succession of those that came and those that went voluntarily or involuntarily. Inside ActiveRain is a treasure chest of authors who wore their hearts on their sleeve, gathered followers, taught valuable lessons, educated, inspired and persuaded the masses.

We welcomed and said our goodbyes in subtle ways with surprises and no surprises. Some beat their chest while others prayed and others did not. And then there were those like Craig Daniels who solved technical probems and rational, compassionate, and no-nonsense Ambassadors like Debe Maxwell, CRS, Liz and Bill Spear, and Lynn B. Friedman CRS Atlanta, GA 404-939-2727 to name just a few of so many who came and went, held our hands through the learning process and beyond. All are gifts to be treasured.

Patricia, Thanks for the mention!  I think many of us want to carry on the culture of what makes this place special.  The names change over time, but with or without obvious management presence, we know and we sustain.  We each want to help others be more successful, build relationships, etc.

He's not on the list, but Russell Lewis was one of those special guys that I got to meet in person before he passed away some years back.

Some day we all put down the keyboard for the last time, and that reality contributes much to how I interact.  I don't want the last blog post I leave on this site to be something that doesn't reflect well on me.

Kathleen Daniels, Probate & Trust Specialist - There are many ways to communicate. ActiveRain is a good place to start to build relationships with people we never dreamed we could before it existed.

As members informed me of additional life closures, I felt sadness and wished I had stayed in touch more, or at the very least I wasn't too busy to leave a positive comment or a sincere thank you. Unfortunately, life is like that, the birth of something great and a disappearing act at unexpected moments.

We've come to expect the unexpected with growing pains, whines and for some with a glass of wine to console one another. But let's not forget what we shared, our talks, meet-ups, referrals, celebrations, consolations, graduations, and little gifts we sent to each other. Some sent flowers, calendars, football schedules, and how can I ever forget a box of See Candy?

Kathleen, you are the sweetest person I know. Although I can't eat sweets anymore I gladly accept sweet people into my life and appreciate you and others too.

Together we smiled, we laughed, we mourned, and cheered each other on in good times and bad. Challenges were many, regrets a few. All in all, there is so much to be grateful for because when you really stop to think about it, we are more than a family, we are one giant heart inside a heartfelt ActiveRain Community. What Lottie, Susan, Lou, and Clint shared are priceless, monumental nuggets that filled our hearts with joy.

Let their joy and our joy grow more.

Hi Again, Patricia!

I found this old post - I remembered them having a meet-up (Alan May & Noah) in Chicago and easily found this one. That was only FIVE years ago - Noah was SO young. Life is just toooooo short.

Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP

Dear Alan May - Please accept my deepest condolences for the loss of your very dear friend Noah. Debe Maxwell, CRS was just as shook up about the loss of Noah as the rest of us here on ActiveRain and shared a wonderful post that he wrote introducing us to you, his very good friend, and of course Jerry Petrow, Bear & the story about Burt's Place.

When I think of Chicago Land in Cook County (my home town and County too) I think of the best Pizza places in the world. Although I never had the pleasure of eating at Burt's Place, nor did I hear the story about Burt Katz before, there is no doubt in my mind that it was a great place to eat delicious pizza and have a good time with co-workers and friends.

In Chicagoland, pizza brings people together for deeper conversations, good humor, and Italian places always builds lasting friendship. It's obvious from this post that Noah valued your friendship a lot and it wasn't surprising to learn how easy it is for anyone to become friends with Noah. It wasn't necessary for any of us to know how to spell or pronounce his last name, we all know him as Noah.

Alan, what I liked best about this AR Post was this paragraph when he mentioned you and his loving wife Margie:

"Alan May is a good friend of mine now and we decided to dine together and attend the re-opening of Burt's Place and I am glad we did. Sweet little fine Margie attended this event and loved it. She enjoys Alan's company as do I."

Alan, if you have the opportunity see Margie again, please extend our deepest condolences from all of us on AR and let her know we still care about her and you too! I send you virtual hugs from all of us here on ActiveRain.

Alan May

I had forgotten about that night out with Noah.  Thank you for the reminder.

Yes, I was aware... Noah's death sent mini-shock waves through the local real estate community, as it was totally unexpected, and he was very young.

Noah wasn't married, and unfortunately Margie has been out of the picture for several years.  I have no idea how to reach her, sadly.
