Has your birthday lost its luster? Growing another year older isn't what it used to be?
I've felt this way often, and I've realized that perhaps it's how I'm looking at it. I see my children's faces on their birthdays and they are full of LIFE. Excitement. Adventure. Wonder.
I miss this in my own life. So today, here are a few ideas to get out and enjoy life on your birthday (or any day). As an added bonus, they are all cheap or free, so no worries on blowing the budget to have your fun!
1. Create Your Life Bucket List
Or vision board. Or map out your next five years. Or just write the goals you have for the next month. Birthdays are a beautiful time for reflection and growth. So, take a few hours of your birthday afternoon and decide where you want your one-and-only life to go from here.

2. Get Together With Friends
Instead of moping around on your birthday, gather a group to watch great movies, play fun games, or just sit around talking with a drink you love. The conversation will boost your spirits and make you thankful for another year of love.
3. Have a Beautiful Picnic
The most beautiful thing we have access to happens to be free: Nature. So, find the most breathtaking site in your city and pack a basket full of delicious food and a blanket. Then, spend several hours doing nothing except enjoying yourself, walking around, and truly relaxing on your birthday.
4. Take a Day Off of Work
If you have vacation days, use one! There's no better time to use a personal day than on your birthday when you can spend the day doing whatever you want.
Birthdays aren't fun as an adult because most of us have lost the ability to just BE. To PLAY. We have forgotten what it was like to daydream the day away. So, I challenge you to do just that...
Stare at a cloud in the sky. Tickle your kids (or grandkids). Beat your spouse in a card game. Do whatever makes you feel like that youthful kid again.
Remember that our days (including our birthdays) are what we make them. Age is just a number. You are as old as your body and mind say you are - so get out there and play like a kid, grow your curiosity, and have fun on your special day.
