Why October is my Favourite Colour

Real Estate Agent with Sotheby's International Realty Canada - Brokerage

October is definitely my favourite colour!!!   From the fantastic Fall Foliage on my street, the prettiest street in town!!

to the abundant number of birthdays, to the warm cozy dressing in cashmeres and leather boots and of course, our Canadian Thanksgiving always the 2nd Monday in October each year!  Unfortunately, this will be our 2nd year of not having family & friends to our table due to this pandemic and the frailty of family members.

Our street is still the prettiest street in town and we go out and gather leaves with which to decorate our dining room for the big event:

The menu varies each year and those of you who've followed me over the years,
know that I am not a huge fan of turkey but will provide it in one form or another for my guests and my husband.  Below is a Bacon Weave Turkey Porchetta which turned out beautifully moist and flavourful.

With this particular turkey creation, we didn't want anyone to miss out on stuffing or dressing . . .  along came my Bundt Pan Stuffing with fried Sage leaves and Cranberry Orange Chutney in the centre.  It actually earned oohs & ahhs when it was presented, lol

Of course, no Thanksgiving meal is complete without PIE - Pumpkin is a house favourite and we ONLY have it at Thanksgiving.  But sometimes, guests prefer another choice and that's when the Mile High Apple Pie comes into play . . .  gotta love our freshly orchard picked Ontario MacIntosh Apples!!

Wherever you are during this gorgeous month of October, I hope you enjoy the Foliage, the Food and the Family & Friends.  That's what this month means to me.

PS Halloween is quickly approaching and I've fingers crossed that it won't be cancelled as well because we are THE Halloween House in our town!

Thank you Alexandra.  I've always loved to set a nice table as it seems to make the occasion even more special.  My niece who is now a Dr used to love to help set the table, fold napkins and make place cards for me and she now carries on the tradition in her own home.

Susan Emo the Fall season is a beautiful season hear in New England.  It is to early to tell what the colors will be like this year, but I think this will be a good year.

Thanks - this nonsense continues to hang on it seems!  I just love the abundance of beautiful colours all around us and do my best to bring it indoors each year.

What gorgeous photos, Susan... and now you'll have me craving pie all day (and I'm not even much of a pie eater!). I also wrote a post last week about October being my favorite color.

How wonderful! I love the leaf decoration, and all the food looks amazing! How long does it take to put the pie-leaves on top of the pie? Wow, love it.

The leaves take a wee bit longer than a traditional top crust, but I only make this at Thanksgiving and my family would now feel cheated without it, ha ha
