Richard --

What a change in Middleton. I grew up in Danvers and actually worked at Richardson's part time and summers from about May 1961 until I left for college in Sept 1962. Back then the head of the company was Ben Richardson (known as Old Ben). He was a Harvard grad who wore workman's coveralls every day and I never saw him in a car that wasn't at least 10 years old.

Before Masconomet opened (I think 1959) the high school kids from Middleton went to Danvers High School and the elementary school was grade 1 through 8. A couple of 1940's and 1950's sports stars at DHS were actually from Middleton.

Hi Fred,

Thank you for your comment. That's interesting information.

Middleton's home prices have changed quite a bit too. About 15-20 years ago it was relatively affordable, but it has become quite an affluent community.

Currently only two single-family homes are priced less than $300K and only eight are priced less than $400K.

Thanks Rich

I hope to make it back this fall for my 45th (yeh 45th) high school reunion. Probably drive up on Wednesday and do some good eats (Woodman's in Essex, the Clam Box in Rowley, the Yard of Ale in Harvard Square). You can see where my mind is.
