NAR: Choose to Inspire Like the Huntsman World Senior Games
Every year, a spectacular athlete is chosen to inspire and speak to fellow participants during the Opening Ceremonies of the Huntsman World Senior Games. Not only is the athlete relevant but also tied to the spirit of competition with multiple successes, through sporting events.
This year's speaker was Anne Abernathy, a world-class, inspirational athlete, who at 68, is going strong, still competing. She has participated in 6 Olympic Games and is changing it up a bit from luge to archery. Anne shared the life lessons and principles learned through her incredible story.
Speakers from past year's include: Record-setting Ironman triathlete James Lawrence, 1960 Olympic Games gold medalist, Rafer Johnson, Olympian Jackie Joyner-Kersee, one of the most decorated female athletes of all-time, 3-time Olympic gold medalist swimmer, Debbie Meyer.
Their success stories inspire the 11,000+ athletes who have traveled from all over the world to participate in the yearly games.
The National Association of Realtors, when planning the yearly Conference, could learn something about what inspires Realtors. For me, it is not celebrities or athletes who know nothing about the industry, it is dedicated professionals who have risen up in the real estate ranks, thru hard work.
What does singer John Legend have to do with real estate? Little to nothing. He says Realtors need to hold themselves accountable. We already do. Same for this year's speaker, Simone Biles, who dropped out of the Olympics for personal reasons. How can that be inspiring to Realtors?
Why not take from the successful Realtor pool of 1.5 million members that are invested in residential or commercial real estate? There are so many exceptional professionals that have significant power to inspire a fellow member audience, to give advice and share their industry journey.
Just my opinion. Some may agree with this post, some may not. NAR really could choose to inspire like the Huntsman World Senior Games...
