Yesterday morning, our friend Luis mentioned to us that Bettina Pizzeria in Montecito had garnered a Michelin mention. He loved their pizza, and if Luis says it is good. we listen. Ron and I decided to have lunch there.
We were not disappointed, given that we consider ourselves pizza snobs. We barely could eat ate half of it accompanied by an excellent glass of Prosecco each.
The restaurant is small located in the Montecito mart, and the outdoor space is ideal for additional seating. It was cold and the heaters kept us cozy and warm.
We brought the rest home for dinner. After thouroughly heating our pizza stone, we warmed the other half for 3 minutes. It was really good accompanied by an arugula, endive, and radicchio salad, and a glass of wine.
Michelin mentioned 17 restaurants in our area including the wine country. We were delighted to see many of our favorites mentioned. We also were happy to have a new list of places we have not yet tried.
Given the bounty of agriculture and our organic farmers who pride themselves on growing the best produce, the long time ranchers, our clean ocean waters, and over 200 wineries, we are not surprised by the Michelin accolades. We think they missed a few, but there is always next year!
This is our third entry into the October Challenge.
