We've all experienced covid lockdowns...the first one in my area lasted for ten weeks, in 2020. Many media projections were calling for gloom and doom for real estate post-pandemic. Well, just goes to show that experts never know what's what. As soon as restrictions lifted, then the secondary home/rural regions erupted in busyness. I love my island home...and it has seen its share of buyers seeking what it offers. What we have ended up experiencing is that there is no post-pandemic, and real estate has arrived at few listings and many buyers. I call it the flight to rural. There is a cap on growth in my region, as the beauties of these islands are protected by the government. Couple that with a real estate market in love with small communities and you know what's coming next: price escalation. Hmmm..... Hope to hear how things are in your home regions.
Hello Li - it's nice to "see" you here. As far as "experts" there never seems to be a shortage of them. And when it comes to real estate, local expertise matters - regardless of what may be happening in other places.

Hi Li Read when a real estate "expert" starts speaking as if real estate is national I usually end up tuning them out. Every market is different. And in a state as big as California where I am at there are many many different markets and trends.
P.S. Beautiful photo

Hi Li- I will echo what Michael Jacobs said...it is so good to see you here!!! And yes, real estate is local so it's interesting reading posts from the members here to learn what's going on in their area.

Our area is a mix of urban (Cincinnati & Dayton), then suburbia and still plenty of rural. Can't say I'm seeing a trend to go from urban to rural, but that might be because our low maintenance housing niche tends to attract clients wanting suburbia.
Us personally? We've got 3.5 acres about 30-40 minutes north of Cincinnati, but we're in process of moving next year or year after to 10 acres on a mountaintop outside of Harpers Ferry, WV. First we have to get a house built! But for us, it's got zero to do with pandemic and everything to do with long formed plans to get closer to our families. Bill

We had a lot of people moving into our area in the last year and a half. That being said, most of them were moving into town, not into the more rural areas. I like that your area has a limit to development; we don't have one yet.
Enjoy your day!

Li Read - We have had a flood of people from CA, FL, and IL make an exodos from their homelands to TX. They are spread out all over, rural and urban. With that said, lockdowns, and the pandemic, I question the results from the Census Reports conducted in 2020.
Nonetheless, I thought of you many times and wondered how you were doing. I'm happy to see you're back! I wish you health, happiness, and prosperity.

Hi Li, I see it Canada is a safe haven, compared to the troubles in the rest of the world.
Then BC 's weather and our South Coast and our Island weather and quality of life. People are escaping City life for the rural area, especialy with working from home which is here to stay for many. My friend and his wife live in Port Alice which is propably one of the most isolated communities on Vancouver Island. He told people have bought and moved there from all over and you can't even buy a dog house there now.
Cheers, have a fun and successful week!
Li Read - just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you and wishing you well. You are missed!
