An Alpine Ski Resort
Arizona Snowbowl sits at 9,200 feet above sea level. The average annual snowfall is over 21 feet. Snowbowl is an alpine ski resort and is located in the beautiful San Francisco Peaks. It is seven miles north of Flagstaff. This area gets thousands of visitors during the change of seasons. Many come from the Phoenix area. It is a 2.5-hour drive from that area. For those of us in Sedona, It is about an hour's drive through Oak Creek Canyon.
Flagstaff - One of the Snowiest Incorporated Cities in the USA
The elevation of Flagstaff is around 7,000 feet, and the annual snowfall in Flagstaff is about 8 feet. This makes Flagstaff one of the snowiest incorporated cities in the USA. Sedona's elevation averages 4,500 feet.
Find Snippets of Color Throughout the Flagstaff Vicinity
The city of Flagstaff and the surrounding area will provide snippets of color during the next 3 weeks. You will see red, deep orange, and yellow leaves on many of the trees. It is a beautiful contrast moving into winter.
Snowbowl Peak Color Viewing
Right now until the first snow in November, this is considered Flagstaff's dry season and this week is the peak week for viewing the color change of the Aspens. There are areas all the way up to the Snowbowl parking lot that offer groves of aspens to view. Besides Lockett Meadow, Aspen Corner is the other main area to see different groves nearby.
