Due ewe no tha write weigh?

I really don’t know why. Somehow, people keep coming to me asking for coaching advice – even though I haven’t advertised myself as a coaching service in some time. And I am sad to see what I find when I talk to these folks.

Some are paying either fees or a split of commission for training. Some are paying up to $1,000 per month for coaching.

Here is what is sad. These agents have been giving written material on what to say and yet no actual training on how to say those words and even more the reasons those words are there in the first place.

Many of us know that communication is 7% words, 38% tonality and 55% body language. And in a phone conversation, there is no body language and so tonality becomes over 80% of what is communicated.

These agents are paying hundreds or thousands of their dollars and not being taught 80% of what is really important. No wonder I hear so many sellers tell me how incompetent they believe real estate agents are. These agents communicate like the customer service call centers routed through companies thousands of miles away. They may have been taught words of English, but they have no idea how to effectively communicate using them.

One day, a company is going to figure that out and start training and coaching the right way all the time.

Rocky - yes, you are right about body language and tonality.  I know when a "robot" callls.

Good morning, Rocky... what I've noticed is that all those coaching "gurus" who charge a ton of money are people who haven't been on the front lines of real estate in years, if not decades... that's a big part of the problem

If I were in Vegas, I would only want to be coached by you.  I wouldn't trust anyone else so I can see why people are flocking to you even though you don't advertise as a coach.

Picking the right coach is so important. Evidently there are those who have picked you! Whether you are an "official" coach or not!

Rocky, I agree with Nina, those expensive coaches have not actually been in the trenches for years.

Hi Rocky- we have the same issue with texts and email. Something is lost without seeing our facial features and body language.

Hi Rocky Dickerson - What you are saying is so true.  Younger agents who grew up with texting, have a hard time understanding this and absolutely need the right person to guide and coach them.  I have no doubt you fit that bill.

Rocky I guess if someone is willing to pay for a service they are really not receiving, there will be someone very willing to take their money.

Effectively communicating Rocky...that's key. When we first started out our manager tried convincing every newbie to hire a coach/trainer. We went to one seminar and after that experience...we never went back to another one!
