Hello Bill(and Liz too) - you're right, AR is so much more.  It's ongoing education plus it's about building relationships(even if some of them may only be virtual).   

I totally enjoy the "more" of ActiveRain. Just take Carol Williams for example, who has been driving across country on an epic trip, and meeting AR members as she goes... And take the AR members who are thrilled to set aside time to meet her. That never would have happened if there was no "more."

I've definitely found the "more" in Active Rain. This is one of the first places to send a referral and found I've learned so much from so many. Kat Palmiotti is right just look at the epic road trip Carol Williams is on and how many AR members were delighted to meet her!

The friendships that I have made in the Rain are most important to me and I look forward to seeing what my friends have to say each and every day.  I have been lucky enough to meet quite a few in person and I love supporting those that I know.

I agree. I haven't seen much bickering at all, but perhaps I haven't been looking for it. Vs facebook and other sites this is a peaceful atmostphere

I have received some great advice here in the rain, met many agents from near and far who have become friends. I think it is often missed by some that this site is more than just blogging.

I have met some great people on the site. I have also received (and given) some referrals to agents I have had AR friendships with for YEARS! 

Like you, I find the power of Active Rain to be in the network.  I have two other blogging sites and two Facebook business pages.  The relationships with agents are better here because you get more of a sense of someone through the posts and comments.  Blogging here for blogging as the primary benefit?  Well, started out that way, but quickly realized my results came from other places for consumer contacts.

I have mad friends with a lot of people here in the Rain and more importantly have become good friends and business relations with people right here in my state that I would not have ever came in contact with but for the platform

I am so impressed with all that Carol accomplished on her trip.

So much more than a blogging platform, indeed!  My life is so much better because of the people here.

You are so correct as you get out what you put into anything.

Like any community it gives folks with like minded goals a sense of belonging with the added benefit of expanding one's knowledge and scope of understanding. For some the blogging can be therapeutic, for others it can serve a purpose. The benefits are varied and sometimes intangible.

LOVE this and my very first thought was Carol's trip, Bill! That is EXACTLY what this platform is all about. Some of use don't blog every day but, we still send and receive referrals quite often - even with, as you said, those who have long since left the community. 

I'm forever grateful that we met here as well. Our RW group could phone one another in the middle of the night and I doubt there's one of us who wouldn't hop on a plane to go help the person on the other end of the phone! Who knew this when we first joined? I certainly didn't!!

I agree Active Rain is more than a blog site.  The people on here are amazing and share information and knowledge with no strings. I come here more for the friendships and the social aspect. Plus you can really learn a lot here!!

I agree.  ActiveRain is more than just a blogging site.  I love the community and it has given me many mentors to help make my business better.  I feel so fortunate to be a part of it all.
