“Patience is power; with time and patience, the mulberry leaf becomes silk.” – Chinese Proverb

For many entrepreneurs, you have reached success despite countless obstacles. How many times do you get knocked down, and you get back up? And keep going. There will be many reasons along the way to quit, good or bad. But you refuse to give up because you started your entrepreneurial journey with that “fire in the belly” called Passion.  And the Perseverance instilled deep in your DNA.  You have kept things going.

What if Passion and Perseverance are not enough?  It may be that what you need is the third leg, Patience.

If you’ve heard it once, you’ve heard it a thousand times.  “Patience is a Virtue.”  Yes, it is. But, most of the time, it doesn’t feel that way.

We live in a society of instant gratification.  In such a world, there’s no “place” for Patience.  This, then, creates twin realities: two worlds, living parallel to one another.  The vast majority of people live firmly in the realm of instant gratification, but a few have come to understand the power and rewards that come from learning the fine art of Patience.  These goals are attainable, but they, of course, aren’t realized instantaneously.

Think carefully about something you’ve been passionately interested in.  Playing an instrument.  Woodworking.  Programing computers.  It was that spark, the catalyst, that began your process.  Your Passion.

Passion fuels your fire.  It builds your inner strength and gives you the “umph” and energy to persevere and continue your action with an unwavering focus despite difficulties.

But, Passion can take you only so far.  Once Passion fades, many people give up, content with what they have achieved.  For others, though, the more they learn about what Passion has led them to, the more they come to love it.  That love and respect are pretty different from Passion.  It is love, quiet and sublime, stemming from an understanding that the more you learn, the more you have yet to learn.  The more you understand, the more you realize there will always be new mysteries to discover about your interest.

Learning is cumulative.  Lessons build, one upon another.  As understanding increases the complexity of the projects, you can also undertake expansions.  A first-time woodworker might struggle to make a pen from a kit.  A master turns a few scraps into a beautiful, functional piece of furniture.

The fine art of Patience brings countless benefits.  Stated, regardless of their fields, successful people have learned the value and importance of Patience.

By its very nature, the world is resistant to change, and when it happens at all, it tends to happen slowly—small moves made over time, leading to a moment of fundamental transformation.

Begin to understand the importance and true meaning of Patience.  Patience is how you can change your world.  The more Patience you have and apply, the more significant the change you can affect.

Can you see the ripples affected by a tiny drop of water that slowly falls from a leaf into the water?  Could you please share your thought?  Thank you.

Excellent post for pondering.  Patience being needed more and more and yet seemingly practiced less and less.  m
