Community and Real Estate Information

Located in the heart of Amish Country, Nappanee is home to the country's 6th-largest Amish community. Thousands of tourists come to this area each year to visit Amish Acres, eat hearty home-cooked meals, and shop for hand-crafted furniture, woodworking, and crafts. When it came to promoting Nappanee, the well-known Rise 'n Roll Bakery played a huge role! Rise 'n Roll doughnuts are so delicious (and addicting!) that they are often referred to as Amish Crack by the locals.

Nappanee's annual Apple Festival attracts over 80,000 visitors during the third week of September. A 7-foot apple pie, which is cut into 800 pieces and distributed among guests, is baked each year as the event's opening act, earning it the title of Indiana's top fall festival in the state.

Nappanee's first significant industry was the sawmill, which was followed by box manufacturing, furniture manufacturing, and potato and onion farming before it was established as a railroad town. Aside from its strong RV manufacturing sector, Nappanee is also known for its custom furniture and cabinet-making industries today.

Nappanee is a “big small town”.  Approximately 13,000 people live here, spread across over 4,800 homes on multiple acres. The median home value is $179,000. It's a welcoming place for families with a strong sense of morality.
