Dan Gamel RV Center, one of the nations largest RV dealers, is liquidating inventory at all his dealerships, including Anderson, CA, and once that is done he will close the doors at each location, all over the State.
Gamel, the nation's fourth largest RV dealer, expects to sell off about $70 million in stock.
The word around the block is that high gas prices, the housing crisis and the credit crunch factored in to the decision to close the Anderson dealership, which opened in February 2003 west of Interstate 5 south of Riverside Avenue.
The Anderson dealership has 55 employees and also features a service center and body shop.
The decision to close the Anderson dealership comes four months after the company closed dealerships in Chico and Santa Rosa.
Gamel currently has dealerships in Bakersfield, Modesto, Rocklin and Fresno, where he has two. All told, the company employs about 200 people.
This hurts our area, for the RV business up here in the North State is a big business. We are all hopeful that he will at least leave open his service center. Stay tuned.
