Home Equity Gains Past Year in US

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Sandpoint Realty LLC DB36113

Home ownership in the US this past year has resulted in $51,500.00 average equity gain.  Pretty impressive, especially when you consider just a bit more than a decade ago so called 'experts' were proclaiming Real Estate to be the worst investment one could make.  Renting a better route to take.

Sandpoint Realty LLC - Home Equity

Another point to be cognizant of is, no where thru out the US do you see negative equity.  Pacific Northwest showing strongest gains with Idaho #3 behind California and Washington.   Now is a good time to ask questions about buying or selling Real Estate.  When is the best time to buy Real Estate?  Today

Good morning Gwen.  One class I went to, early on, an instructor noted that when refering to the price of bread it is inflation, and when refering to homes it is appreciation.  lol   Either way the price is there.  Thanks for stopping by.  Mark

Mark I learned a long time ago that the only thing the experts are experts about when it comes to predicting Real Estate, is they are experts on being wrong.

Hello Mark - regardless of any market conditions(in real estate or not) - I don't recall any time when there has been a shortage of experts,  Finding what works best for you(and your situation) can lead to additional gains in happiness.

Good morning, Mark. Can't top George Souto's comment! :))) I'll admit that the average equity gain for NC is pretty much what I can attribute to my own home in Charlotte.

It's been awhile since we've experienced such amazing equity gains.  I can't help compare it to the price run up in 2006 and 2007 that ultimately ended in the bust of 2008.  However, there are no liar loans, and teaser interest rates that quickly escallate during this current market.  There's much more cash and folks have skin in the game.  It will be interesting to see if these prices hold once the pandemic ends, and supply line which has slowed new construction eases.
