Winter is Coming Fast- Ready or Not

Home Inspector with SLS Home Inspections-Kankakee Will Iroquois Grundy Counties 450.004175

Winter weather is coming fast. Bourbonnais, Illinois was 36 degrees last night.

There are a few things that are worse than a furnace acting up in the middle of the winter, but for the life of me I can't think of any right now. Your furnace or boiler needs an annual checkup.

REPEATING   Your furnace or boiler needs an annual checkup. Don't wait.

If you put it off until November or December, you're asking for trouble. Waiting until the snow flies means you waited about 3 months too long. Now if you're depending on something like this old furnace to keep you warm through the winter, then you might want to invest in a space heater. Or rent a hotel room and also check your Carbon Monoxide detector, because this Ol Smokey is a death trap. Furnaces need regular annual tuneups for better efficiency but more importantly, better safety to prevent CO poisoning.

Old Smokey has seen better days,

Make sure your furnace or boiler is safe and have it checked before winter by a qualified HVAC professional.

Thanks for sharing Scott! Its important to have annual check ups on your heating and cooling systems. I am guilty of that my self. But to my rescue, I have a home warranty for last 30 years and it works out real well for our family

We are ready although we use it minimally.  We always put in a new filter for the season!  Good advice!

Hi Scott... winter is not quite around the corner here in Charlotte as yet... nonetheless, my HVAC system will still be undergoing its semi-annual checkup and service before the month is out.

Hello Scott - proper preparation matters and can certainly help when those unexpected emergencies occur - and it seems any emergency has an unexpected element.  Or do they???  A good reminder.
