Why I Often Read and Comment On Your Market Reports and Listing

One of the things that makes this site so remarkable is the community...ie the members. We show support for each other in many ways.

One of the ways is through our reading and commenting on their posts. It's easy to do when the post is about something personal or showing off the Fall Colors, for example. It’s not always easy when the posts are about market updates or new listings.

However, I try to stop by and read and comment on the market reports and listings of other members for 2 reasons…


It’s how I learn…

Even though I’m not an agent, I like seeing what the market is like in other areas. Like many of you, I have friends and family all over the country. 


When I’m speaking with them, I can point them towards an agent in their area if they are thinking of buying or selling,..or if they just want to know what their market is doing. 

 

It’s how I say Thank You…

While it’s not a requirement, commenting on the comments made on your post is always appreciated.


It provides a back and forth of communicating. Some members respond to all comments made on their post or at least make it a point to head to that member’s post and read and comment on their post. 

 

I’ve commented on some members’ posts and have no idea if they read my comments or even cared if anyone at all commented on it.

Again...it’s their choice.  Nothing says that you must read and comment on any of the posts here. 

 

As always..your choice. For me...it’s a way of saying I appreciate your taking the time to read and comment on my post. 

**A point to remember...the market reports and listings and any other consumer-focused posts need to be respected.

If you want to opine on how much you dislike white kitchen cabinets or anything else...write it in your own post.

Kathy, I remember a blogger years ago that wrote informative posts, but never posted about listings or market reports.   I called her, and she said she thought she shouldn't post those.   I told her, that makes you LOOK like a busy REALTOR, and know what you are doing.   She IS a very busy REALTOR!

Kathy market reports can be very dry and even repetitive at times, BUT the reason why I read them is because they are a great way to learning how Real Estate is doing across the country.

You've made some excellent points!  Learning and saying thank you are great reasons for reading others' post and commenting, if it make sense to do so and you have something to say. It's a good way to get to know others and for them to get to know us, too. It's all part of being in the AR community.

Oh, you are spot-on here, Kathy! I remember, back in the early days here in the Rain, I used to beat the drum about posting about your market (numbers-wise) and your listings. Some agents just felt uncomfortable doing so but, our SEO at the time was INCREDIBLE! Once they started, they saw the benefits and continued doing it.

So, commenting on others' market reports & listings is important to me. I will say that I am guilty of not always acknowledging others commenting on my market reports & listings though. I need to work on that, for sure!
