'Tis the season, indeed! Halloween is just around the corner, and it's all in the tradition of getting your costumes and baskets for the Trick-or-Treat this coming weekend, probably watch a horror movie or two at night later on while drinking your favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte. 1. Shocktober

Listed as one of the most terrifying haunted houses in the country, this house of horror in Leesburg, VA does give a lot of spooky vibes! 2. Madhaunter's Madhouse

Nightmare is in the house in this one-of-a-kind haunted house! Located in Leesburg, VA (starting to think that Leesburg is a spooky place... just kidding!), they offer not only a haunted house that is sure to spook your night, but escape rooms as well for the playful minded ones. 3. The Nevermore Haunt

As one of the highest rated haunted houses in Maryland, the Nevermore Haunt takes pride to its fright capabilities that is sure to give you goosebumps! Not only they give you the chills, but also opening a cold one with the boys and girls at their on-site bar serving the finest local craft beers in the vicinity! 4. Decatur House

Don't get me wrong, all of the places mentioned in this list are all spooky in their own way; but the Decatur House? Calling this place haunted is definitely an understatement. With its history dating back many decades ago, the Decatur House located in Washington, D.C. was said to be built on an Indian burial ground. Being the home to ghosts, grudges, misery, death by dueling, and the gruesome death for its original owner, and the infamous urban legend "black ghost", this takes a special mention in the list as one of the places that ACTUALLY gives you the chills. 5. Laurel's House of Horror

Want to know what actual fear feels like? Then it's time to visit the Laurel's House of Horror! Located in Laurel, MD, this establishment was previously an old movie theater that has been abandoned by its owners after experiencing paranormal activities in the area. After having the property analyzed by ghost hunters, they concluded that there is indeed some other-worldly activities going on in here. Are you up for the test of courage?
