Affordable housing is available in Tumacácori/ Carmen and has quick and easy access to the I-19 corridor. The Tumacácori Mountains dominate the landscape, and the small town itself has a frontier feel to it, owing to its historical roots.

Its crime rate is lower than the national and statewide averages, and there are numerous medical facilities and shopping options close by, as is the case in nearby Santa Cruz. Most homes here are not part of HOA.

Tumacácori is an ancient O'odham word that can mean various things, including a flat, rocky place or where the wild chilies are gathered.

It is named after Carmen Zepeda, a woman who in 1918 opened a trading post and homesteaded about 300 acres between Tumacácori and Tubac in the nearby hamlet of Carmen. She gave the hamlet the name "Carmen" and lived there as the only person for a time.

Rich in History and Culture: The Santa Cruz Valley is immersed in European history and culture, dating back to 1691 when Jesuit priest and explorer Father Eusebio Francisco Kino arrived. He is credited with helping to forge peaceful coexistence between the indigenous peoples and European settlers. Between 1687 and 1711, he established over twenty missions among the Pimeria Alta's O'odham peoples.

Father Kino established the Mission San Cayetano de Tumacácori in a Native American village inhabited by the Sobaipuri, directly east and across the Santa Cruz River from the Mission de Tumacácori Historical National Park.

This park is small but precious. This park contains well-preserved ruin sites from the mid-1700s and a world-class museum with exhibits spanning thousands of years of local history. An absolute gem in the National Park System.

Santa Cruz River Riparian Habitat: Every year, the park hosts the Tumacácori fiesta, where local tribes perform authentic native dances for visitors, showcasing the region's multicultural roots.
