Today, as the noon hour began to approach, I decided to visit an old haunt in nearby Old Fair Oaks Village. The Village is a small quaint community that features a small park with little shops, cafes, and a brew house, among its other businesses. However, it is the chickens that inhabit the park and village which add delightful ambiance. After parking my car, and ordering up a sandwich and tea at the Coffee House, I found a seat in the park directly across the road. But on this day, I found it wasn't only chickens occupying the park; but also strange beings dwelling in the trees.
The Fair Oaks Coffee House and Deli offers up great sandwiches, soup, coffee and ice cream. They are located at: 10223 Fair Oaks Boulevard, Fair Oaks, California 95628.
This little lady is all decked out for Halloween. She was spotted hanging around one of the Village park trees.
The Fair Oaks Brew Pub enjoys a delightful spot in The Village directly across from the park at 7988 California Avenue, Fair Oaks, California 95628.
In addition to indoor dining and brew partaking, The Fair Oaks Brew Pub also has outdoor dining. Today, with mild temps in the upper 60s, it made for a pleasant environment.
I found this guy people watching from the branches in a Village tree. He seemed content there!
This Village resident was spotted near Village park foliage. It had a couple of buddies, who soon flew the coop when I approached. I call it an "it" because I'm a sidewalks, curbs and gutters gal (city dweller). I can't tell the difference between a hen and a cock. There were several spots near trees where I observed seed, chicken food and containers of water. The chickens in Old Fair Oaks Village live a charmed life!
If you are wondering why there are chickens in Old Fair Oaks Village, and you wonder where they came from, the story is they showed up circa 1970s. But, where they came from is a bit of a mystery. Some say they escaped from a chicken farm, while others claim they were likely dropped off by a resident.
