INTRODUCTION: The Town of Flower Mound is located northwest of Dallas in the central part of Denton County. The city of Denton is north of Flower Mound and Flower Mound is four miles north of the DFW International Airport. Flower Mound borders Lake Grapevine.

In the beginning, Flower Mound was established in between 1844 and 1845. The Town is approximately 43.4 miles with a combination of residential, mixed use, farm, and ranch. Mixed use began a few years ago. As time went by and less people wanted farm and ranch, more homes and commercial use were built to provide an array of restaurants, coffee shops, grocery stores, cleaners, automobile service shops, nurseries, and other essential businesses.

Texas Health Presbyterian Flower Mound was established in 2010. Many other medical facilities and clinics addressing special medical needs soon followed including Solis Mammography Flower Mound, a full service center providing 3-D mammograms with Smart Curve Technology. As a result of growth to Flower Mound and the need became apparent for employees and others who needed to be as close to the hospital and other medical facilities, townhouses and apartments were built and they remain in high demand. There are several well-established Dental Offices, Optometrists, Orthopedic Surgeons and Sports Medicine Specialist too. The Town of Flower Mound keeps track of residential needs and addresses the needs of their residents.

As the Town began to grow more Fire Stations were built and many more firefighters and police were added to the payroll. They are very involved in educating and safety to all ages. There are currently ten Senior Assisted Living Facilities and eight independent Senior Living Communities.

Students belong to the Lewisville Independent School District. In additional there are many pre-schools and the Cordam Deo Academy. In 2011 North Central Texas College (established in 1924) came to Flower Mound in Parker's Square where students can walk to near-by restaurants or sprawl out by the Gazebo, park benches and bistro tables to study or eat. In addition in and around Flower Mound are therapeutic horseback riding and physical therapy centers using horses for the physical, mental, and emotional needs for children, adults, Veterans, First Responders, and their families at Victory Therapy in Roanoke.

There are 69 Golf Courses in or near Flower Mound including Flower Mound's Tour 18 (Gated Community) and Bridlewood Golf Club.

The Public Library in Flower Mound was very busy building the addition during the pandemic during the lockdown. It is now open for business and many more books and a variety of programs are being offered. Flower Mound has many walking trails and an interesting history. If you're thinking about moving to Flower Mound, I'm a local resident and would be happy to service your real estate needs.

Patricia like I have stated in the past, Flower Mound sounds like a great place to call home, if only the heat and humidity were a little lower.  But then again for those who like the higher temperatures and humidity, Flower Mound is perfect. ☺️

George Souto - It's a matter of opinion and what you're accustomed too. When I first moved to TX from IL, it didn't take long for me to appreciate the sunshine and short winter weather compared to Chicago and Northern, IL. In the beginning, I traveled back and forth from TX to IL and vice-versa in all kinds of weather frequently for business and personal. It didn't take long for me to appreciate warmer climate, especially because air conditioning is in all newer construction, schools, stores, vehicles, and other businesses.

Where I grew up in Chicago, we didn't have Air Conditioning in my home or school. After my second child was born we moved to Northern, IL. I didn't have AC either. I felt the humidity during summer. What bother me more in Chicago & Northern, IL before moving to TX were the mosquitoes and sweat! The winter weather gave me frost bite on my hands while walking to school (I didn't have school buses). My uncle lost his toes while waiting for a Chicago bus. Our cars were always having accidents because of icy roads. On the day my home caught fire in around 1994 in Northern, IL, the temperature + wind chill factor was minus 65 degrees! When I had opportunity to walk through with the fire marshall, the walls were thick as ice and nothing was recognizable. I lost everything valuable!

Seriously, I'm happier in warmer climate and I'm not affected by the heat. Actually, for the first five years in TX, I never wore a winter coat and I may wear a light jacket a few times during the winter here in Texas. I have not owned a pair of winter boots, gloves, a scarf or winter hat either. Plus, I never had to shovel snow.

Others may prefer the colder climates, but truthfully, I'm happier to do without the freezing temperatures and my cars last longer without salt. Last February was the first time I was seriously cold during the Ice Storm which was an anomaly. FYI... it is 77 degrees and sunny at 5:12 pm at the time of this comment.

Hello Patricia - prior to "meeting" you in ActiveRainLand, I wasn't aware of Flower Mound.    I certainly wouldn't know its whereabouts in Texas but over the years you have shared information about your area that gives me a hint why you chose it as the place to call home.   The education continues in this post.
