Wordless Wednesday...That “Shoe” Was a Good Walk!

Another shoe!  We’ve found them on our walks along Delray Beach, at Green Cay Wetlands, and every other park where we’ve walked.

It makes me wonder about the back story. This particular shoe looks like it belongs to a child. You know how chaotic it can get when you’re trying to get everyone and everything in the car before you leave!

I also wonder about all of the “alone” shoes out there.  How in the world could they possibly be matched up with another shoe once their other shoe is gone?

I guess they may never reunite with their sole mate.  (I’m sorry...I couldn’t resist)

Maybe it is the same person who is taking that one sock from us?  Thanks for the post, we are half way to the weekend.  Have a productive Hump Day.  Bill

Kathy,

What about a pair of shoes.  I remember seeing a pretty green pair of sandals on a walk in Hawaii.  They were there several days in a row.  And then there are shoes that some hoist up into the power lines, that just hang there...Where is that Sole Mate?  A

We are now in the lost glove season in Maryland. I have frequently found a single lost glove in front of our home. I stick the gloves up on our fence for walkers to see but most of the time they are never claimed.

Kathy, that is baffling, as if WE lose a shoe, definitely know you are missing a shoe!  Maybe not a kid though.

So, someone must have hung the shoe on that pipe. Maybe it was a FOOT tall?

Hi Kathy Streib - Rick and I were walking on a trail to a beach in Maui and off the trail I noticed this pair of giant shoes.  I couldn't believe how big they were.  I had no idea how long they were left there. But as you can see, they were pretty beaten up!

Yes...that is my foot next to the shoe!

Wayne Martin I always wonder about the back story and I can see how a shoe could get left behind.

Norma J. Elkins thank you and I agree...we need anything that will make us smile.

Kat Palmiotti we saw them all of the time when we walked along Delray.  It's easy to see how parents might overlook them when packing the kiddies up to leave.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX I agree. We made it through 2020 only to be slammed in the face with a bus load of negativity.

Brian England I wonder if people ever drive back to where they were to see if they might find the shoe!

Liked your riddle Nina Hollander, Broker   I don't think a week went by in Delray that we didn't find some flip-flop or shoe on the beach or sidewalk.

Bill Salvatore - YVP Blog  People always leave the shoe or whatever they find in a place where someone might find it. Maybe this one will be reunited someday.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel oh yes...I've seen shoes thrown over the power lines too. And we would see all sorts of toys left on the beach as well.

Roy Kelley I never thought of gloves!!!!  We still have warm weather. Hope that you and Chef Dolores are doing well.

Joan Cox the parents I'd see at the beach certainly had their hands full with getting the kids in the car and everything else as well.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty I think a walker or one of the park service people did.

George Souto they will no doubt be given a sum every month to just be there. They are not obligated to work. If the shoe falls off and causes someone to trip, they cannot be sued or go to jail.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® oh my gosh those are huge!!!!!  Now I can see losing one shoe but how do you lose a whole pair???

Kathy we've seen the oddest things along the hiking trails in our neck of the woods over the years!  People are kind to make 'it' as noticeable as possible.  Who knows if anyone ever picked up some of that stuff that lost it anyway!!

At the health club where I swim I am often taken by the number of swim goggles, sandals, flip flops, towels, etc., that get left behind!  It isn't only the kids who forget their stuff. Many adults do as well!

I often wonder how a shoe gets left behind.

But we do have our own story on the subject...

Once after visiting relatives in NJ Rick realized a favorite flip flop was missing. He threw the remaining flop out when we got home. Days later his sister texted to say she found his missing flop in the parking lot where we had been. He had no choice but to tell her to trash it. That was a couple of years ago and he still comments quite often when wearing other flip flops that they just aren't the same.
