East Broad Estates is Newnan's new single family home development that when complete will be made up of 7 homes built by Newnan Coweta Habitat for Humanity. Two of the homes featured here are already in progress, fully framed, roofed, utilities plumbed in, with windows recently installed along with new siding now in progress.
These homes will feature quite a few modern, energy efficient amenities including tankless water heaters, double pane windows and ample insulation. These homes will be located just East of Newnan's Court Square a little more than half way to the Greison round about. Terry, was the foreman or site manager on duty who visited with me quite a bit and showed me the homes. He spoke highly about the new owner of a previous built Habitat home. New home owners have to meet a list of requirements to get into a Habitat Home including help building the home. They call that "sweat equity" and it consists of several hundred hours. In addition folks take classes to help learn how to manage finances and take care of the home, helping to ensure longevity of ownership.
To learn more about Habitat for Humanity, visit the Newnan Coweta Habitat for Humanity web page: https://www.nchfh.org/ I've volunteered on Habitat for Humanity home projects in another city years ago and hope to get more involved with our local organization and help out. Terry was telling me that while Habitat is primarily known for it's new construction projects, it's not just building houses, but also helping folks in need in already existing homes. There are many ways a person can get involved and help, so be sure to check out their web site.
