Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on our blessings, and November has become a time to "give back" to show appreciation and gratefulness to family, friends, and clients. The last Tuesday in November is designated Giving Tuesday, which is a global movement to show generosity to those around us.
Typically speaking, our real estate business slows down in the fall and we have more time to devote to our favorite charities. There are plenty to choose from! So I challenge you to look around your community, see who you can reach out to, and give someone a blessing today. Don't wait for a designated date to share the love.
A group from my office recently visited two local fire departments. We carried homemade Jambalaya and in return, were given a tour of the newest Flowood Fire Department. It was impressive! At another station, we ran into the son of a Realtor from a competing brokerage. What fun we had getting him to pose for a photo! His mom loved it so much, she shared it on Facebook!
We delivered pizzas to One Hope, a community based service provider for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The staff and attendees were very appreciative.
An artist friend donated dozens of custom paintings that will go to an assisted living home and One Hope for Christmas. We had a gift wrapping party Saturday afternoon. Pictured above is a photo of Glenda with her art. She is a senior citizen who is self-taught and talented.
There are many ways we can give back to bring joy to others. Don't forget our four-legged friends. Some people foster these abandoned animals until they are ready to be re-homed. Others can donate time, money, or supplies to support a shelter.
We all have talents; let's use them to spread the love this holiday season. What are some of the things you have done to help others? There are many things I haven't done but perhaps you have, like volunteering at the local hospital or taking flowers to those who are sick. Let me know; I'd love to hear from you.
Don't wait for a date on the calendar. Do it now!
