One of the most important parts of seeing success in this arena is having complete confidence in talking with people, and when you do, ask questions, ask questions as the late Cavit Robert used to say, don’t wait for the other person to speak first. Be ready to start a conversation with a stranger on the street corner. I am not saying that is exactly where you will get business from but just want you to get the point, we are going to discuss better areas of finding business than the street corner with a stranger.
One area that made a huge difference in my business was being a member of Toastmasters. If you are not familiar with it look it up. The organization has been around for over 90 years, worldwide, in 143 countries. With the virus it has made a major change for over a year not meeting in person, Toastmasters is to train you to speak in public.
For example: if you asked me to stand for ten hours and speak to 10,000 real estate agents next week, I would not only be able to do it, but I would also be as happy as a coon in a cornfield with the dogs tied up. With pay that is.
About twenty years ago the son of a former client of mine asked me to deliver the eulogy. I did it was fun, twenty minutes, and I had 250 people laugh four times. With comfort. There is always that bit of nervousness in front of a group, of making a mistake.
It can take time to get your first buyer or seller, I was always told in Ohio and Arizona three to six months. Both times in each state I got them in two weeks in Ohio, eight weeks in Arizona (because I was new here and no one knew me). And that was before Toastmasters or knowing I was to have that list of names!
I hope your day is as good as mine
