HONOR AMERICA'S FALLEN HEROES AND LIVE UP TO THEIR LEGACY THIS CHRISTMAS SEASON

DONATE A WREATH FOR WREATHS ACROSS AMERICA DAY

December 18, 2021 is National Wreaths Across America Day... you can help ensure that a Christmas remembrance wreath is placed at each fallen veteran's gravesite on December 18th at Arlington National Cemetery and at over 2,750 military gravesites around the country, at sea and abroad. You can help by sponsoring a veteran's wreath at a cemetery near you, by volunteering or by donating to a local fundraising group. Each year, the Wreaths Across America organization lays millions of wreaths at military gravesites.

Please consider making a donation to Wreaths Across America to honor those who paid the ultimate price throughout our history for the freedoms we enjoy to this day. The 2021 theme for Wreaths Across America is "Live Up To Their Legacy." Please think about playing your part and support this cause by volunteering and or donating.

Video: What Is Wreaths Across America

This amazing organization, had its start 29 years ago with a trailer-load of wreaths, decorated by volunteers and laid at the graves of fallen soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. In 2020, approximately 1.7 million veterans’ wreaths were placed by volunteers on headstones at 2,557 at participating cemeteries around the country in honor of the service and sacrifices made for our freedoms, with each name said out loud. In 2020, at Arlington National Cemetery alone, and in spite of rain and cold, thousands of volunteers placed 250,000 wreaths.

“A person dies twice: once when they take their final breath, and later, the last time their name is spoken.”

The mission of Wreaths Across America is to:

REMEMBER the fallen;
HONOR those who serve;
TEACH our children the value of freedom.

What a lovely tradition. I wish I was closer to where my parents are buried so I could do something like this for them. My Mom didn't serve IN the war but she did support the war efforts by working in the shipyards while my Dad was serving in WWII.

Hi Nina Hollander, Broker - This is such a worthy cause.  I have participated in the past.  My Marine son worked at Riverside National Cemetery. He is still part of the VA and works at Loma Linda VA Hospital.  Thanks for the update on this.

This is an awesome program. My Grandfather is buried in a Vet cemetery in NY. I visited a couple of years ago. It is sad because many of these folks who died 50-70 years ago get very few visitors.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® hi Sheri... it's a wonderful cause, if you ask me. And I'm sure it brings much comfort to the families who have loved ones buried in a military cemetery.

Ron and Alexandra Seigel hi Alexandra... I know that by early December they will be putting out more calls for donations with a count of how many wreaths they are short. The goal each year is to have a wreath for each and every grave site.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty hi Jeff... exactly! Wouldn't it be nice to know that your grandfather's grave had a wreath placed on it during the holidays even if you can't do it yourself?

Kathy Streib hi Kathy... I would think there's a military cemetery somewhere in the Houston area as well. But if not, a $15 contribution towards a wreath is not too much to ask of most people.

I love the look of those wreaths by the headstones.  I have always wondered why people would vandalize gravestones, what is to gain from that?

Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! good morning, Wanda... I like to think of it as Veterans Week, not just Veterans Day. It's such a small amount to contribute but that small amount makes a huge impact.

Joan Cox hi Joan... sadly, last year donations for wreaths were about 300,000 less than the prior year... I'm sure it was pandemic-related and the fact that initially the Department of Defence cancelled the event. Trump over-ruled that cancellation. Hopefully, this year donations will go back to 2 million or more wreaths.
