Best Kept Secret of Sam's Club

I know a Secret About Sam's Club that Most People Do Not Know!

I found out this Secret sometime this past year.  I was told by a friend in the store, and it has saved me so much time!

This Secret, is Really No Secret At All!  

It all started when we were in Sam's Club several months ago, or it may have been a year ago now.  We were on our last few isles of browsing, when we ran into a good friend of ours.  As he was looking at our basket, and we were looking at the long check out lines, he asked "The Question?"

Do you have the "Scan and Go App?"

What is that we asked??  He said You can download the Sam's Club App - Then Scan Your Items, Pay Through the App, and Walk Out The Door.  Can You Believe This??

I had to give it a Try, and Sure Enough, within a minute or less, I had scanned every item in my basket and was out the door!

This is what I call a "Must Know!"  I normally do not support self check out, but with everything going on over the past 1-2 years, this has been a great tool for me!  

I hope you enjoy this tip, and stay away from the long check out lines!

That's hillarious Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! - you are right! It is not so secret, but I think the shoppers in our area are not familiar with it for some reason - or maybe they just want to self check out at the registers haha!  My mom doesn't want to put her credit card information into the app, which I understand.  Have a great day!

That is a great way to shop.  We don't have a Sam's in our area but wonder if it would work for Costco or BJ's

Hello Brenda,  Good tip to share for sure.  I do not use the app but may have to check into it.  I find myself doing the self check out so often anyway.  I pray we will return to normal one day where people work again! ;)  So we all don't have to check ourselves out.  lol  Merry Christmas!

Hi Joan - I wish the stores would hire enough people to check everyone out quickly.  I hate checking myself out and would rather go through the isles where someone is working - with the exception of Sam's club mainly because they never have enough checkers.  - Merry Christmas to you & definitely check it out!! Hi Bob, Yes I hate to admit but I do love this one!  I went into another store that I love and asked if they had it, but they said no!  I still shop at the other store, but hate standing in the long lines at Sam's Club - and I hate seeing others standing in those lines, or using the scanner to check themselves out.  Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Brenda - I don't recall ever being in a Sam's Club but know they exist in our area.  I admit to feeling a bit anxious upon seeing the parking lot, let alone the interior, of a Costco as some people feel empowered by shopping carts filled with over-flowing amounts of merchandise. 

 

As Alexandra Ron and Alexandra Seigel I have heard Amazon is trying such a store concept in our area(and likely elsewhere) that requires no visit to the checkout line - everything in the store is handled by the use of being a "Prime Member".  The likelihood of me learning or experiencing such advances in shopping are less than zero.   

 

Of course, that doesn't mean it won't be a successful concept or even the wave of the future in shopping.  Maybe, the corner store will make a "comeback" and that idea will be revolutionary to an entirely new set of eyes.

Good morning Michael Jacobs - I had heard that about Amazon also. You might surprise yourself by shopping there haha!  We are too small of a town for them to come here.

I had not had a Sam's Club membership in a long time.  I think my son wanted to go in on one with me and after looking at the lower cost of their meat and some of the produce - we decided to go ahead and do it.  There are lots of things you can buy in bulk and some things that are just a little better deals. 

I hope the corner stores will make a comeback!  Several years ago on the Island the Stripes stores were the best place to pick up items that you would run out of quickly like milk and eggs.  They were priced very affordably.  I think since some of the larger stores have come in, this has gone by the wayside.  You would think it would be the other way around.  We were so excited to get a Dollar General.  Some people we know didn't want to shop there, but then when they did, they said "This is the Nicest Dollar General I have ever seen."  Well of course - it's on the Island.  People are funny!

Whole Foods is offering the same kind of scan and go  check out in test sites. If it works well, it will be in all the Whole Food stores.

Hi John Juarez - I bet it will work.  People are going for more convenience, even if they have to check themselves out - or that is what I am seeing here.  I would prefer a live person, but with Sam's club, it is a great benefit!

That is a great tip Brenda, and will share with friends and clients.  I personally don't go to Sam's, as being only one person, the packaging is WAY too much for one person.

Hi Joan Cox - I used to not go to Sam's because of the same reasons.  My son was wanting a membership so we went in one day and joined together.  The meat is a great deal there so that was what I mainly shopped for - it was a little less expensive than other stores.  I was buying steaks as closing gifts and they had a great deal on them, but that was all before 2020 haha!  I do agree it is Way too much for one person, unless you like to repackage everything!  Have a great day!
