Meet Norman! Our newest member of the family! A family that was moving out of state was not able to take him with and wanted to find a forever home for this sweet little pup! He's a 2 1/2 year old Shih Tzu and yes his name is Norman! The little girls in his first family named him after a cartoon character because they thought he looked like the old man. We thought of changing his name, but Norman so fits his BIG personality! He's so darn cute and loves to play with toys, run around like a crazy dog AND he follows Gary everywhere. He's got a little hop and skip following him around. It's so funny when I look out my office window and see the little guy following him and he's so happy! And BTW so is Gary with his new little tag-a-long!
So most of you know Barney, my trusted assistant for the last 7 years. Well he's an older dog now, almost 14. We're weren't sure how he'd adjust with a new little guy running around wanting to play with a younger pup And so far, he's not up to all that must running around, yet....but he's coming around.
Barney and Norman are going on walks every day and it's been working out good. Norman seems to push Barney a little bit and of course Barney needs to be in the lead so off he goes with the pup in tow! When we have to leave them alone we leave family room/kitchen area. So far all has gone well and we've been gone up to 4 hours or so. Sometime now, when we come home they're both, on the same sofa sleeping. So that's a good sign!
We've also taken them both to Home Depot (in the same cart) and low and behold that worked well. We weren't sure if Norman was socialized but he seems to do just fine.
And I just happened to see the two of them 'kind of playing' while we were watching TV the other night! Another good sign! We are so blessed to have our newest little addition to the family! What a wonderful Thanksgiving gift!
Thankful for Our Newest Member of the Family! Norman!
