Christmas Affair 2021 ~ Tradition is Back in Austin TX

I’m feeling blessed the Junior League of Austin Christmas Affair is back this year!! The in-person event this year was so much fun! This year’s theme is “Dashing through the Snow” and returned to the Palmer Events Center located at 900 Barton Springs Road, Austin.

Austin has undergone many changes since I moved here in 1981. The only constant for Austin is “change” but the qualities our city cherishes: compassion, generosity and creativity never change. Every dollar raised during the five-day event provides much-needed funding for the Junior Leagues signature programs and community non-profit partnerships.

The annual event hosts over 200 retail merchants from across the country and attracts over 25,000 patrons.  The 2021 Christmas Affair is presented by Nyle Maxwell Family of Dealerships and the dates are November 17-21st.  As a new tradition started in 2020, the Junior League of Austin launched "A Christmas Affair Virtual Market Showcase" which transpired in July (July 14-18th) Virtual is just not the same as the "in-person" event and we are all thankful to see it "back!"

I've been going for the past 16 years with my daughter and some special friends. It's become a tradition to kick off the holiday season and puts me in in the mood for the holiday. We attended this morning's, “Wintergarden Shopping & Bites” which launches their fundraising market. We enjoyed the delicious brunch bites, drinks and three hours of private shopping. We even made it to upstairs to visit their second floor merchants.

All Children’s Events and Holiday photos are located this year at their Community Impact Center located at 5330 Bluffstone Lane, Austin. Visit their ticket page to purchase tickets for A Christmas Affair now!

I must admit we found some new and exciting vendors and shopped until we dropped! We missed a few vendors but the new ones gave a fresh look and feel to the shopping experience. I'm now officially in the holiday spirit!

Cheers 2021.... So thankful to have your in-person event back!🥂

HI Dorie- Our annual Nutcracker Market which benefits the Houston Ballet was back this weekend but I wasn't able to make it. And I agree...last year the Market was held virtually but it wasn't the same.

Hi Dorie... so nice to have many loved traditional events back in our cities and towns. Of course, I'm still trying to scrape a couple of hours together to get to the Southern Christmas Show in Charlotte before it closes on Sunday evening, which is back after last year's hiatus due to covid.

Hi Dorie Dillard Austin TX - the Palmer Events Center must be very close to the Hyatt Regency where I always attended TR Conventions in Austin. I never heard of the Palmer Events Center but then again, you know how it goes when you're at convention!

Your photographs and write-up are wonderful! I love reading it!

Dorie there were many special traditions that were canceled last year, and it is great to see many of them come back this year.
