A Sliding

Scale

Sunday

Of Sorts

Many of us who visit ActiveRain look forward to the appearance of   Carol Williams on Saturdays. Each week she curates posts suggested as praiseworthy by members along with some of her own hand-picked gems. There can be a lot we can miss while traveling through the AR blog roll. Second Chance Saturday now reflects more than 200 weekly entries which seems like a lot of second chances if you ask me.  But this post is not solely about second chances or even scales but those two things do come to mind so here is a post which combines the two. Well, sorta.

I can’t imagine compiling this information on a regular basis as Carol does or as some other rainers such as Liz and Bill Spear do with their Tuesday Ask The Ambassador series plus the light bulb moments captured by Kathy Streib.

On this weekend after gathering and gobbling have occurred, my mind goes in the direction of the scale.  Not that I'm looking for a second chance with that device mind you but I am also not jumping on it. However, I do wonder if there could be a sliding aspect added to that scale like a start with a minus five or ten pounds.  Maybe for just a second.

Variations tied to scales are but one direction we can take. Valuation can certainly enter the discussion. Perhaps volatility plus volume adds to the bigger picture. I quickly realize this may be going on a path I am not prepared to take. Sometimes victory comes when cutting it short or simply by removing the scale. Out of sight and out of mind. Something like that.

Yes, I wonder.  Hmm, did someone mention pie??? And did somebody say something about seconds??? I digress. . . And it seems that "I digest" may be on the table too.

Thinking of pie, these are tasty ponderings and a sweet notion - negotiating with the "scale slide" post Thanksgiving Dinner Michael Jacobs

Roy Kelley - as we "slide" into a new month, I hope November continues to be good for you.

Thomas J. Nelson, REALTOR ® e-Pro CRS RCS-D Vets - of course, I could have titled this post "Just Desserts" in keeping with the theme.  Thankful for the possibilities and your comment too.

SO crazy, I know but, when I think of sliding scale, I think of insulin doses for diabetics as I learned in college, Michael!! My scale is tipping in the direction I am not pleased it is heading. I spent yesterday pulling up carpet and getting a guest room turned into the beginnings of a gym. Yes, I need that scale to start sliding downwards!

As for pie - I did have one piece on Thanksgiving and have somehow, managed to refrain from seconds. I am more annoyed than anything that the leftover pie keeps calling my name each time I open the refrigerator!

Have a wonderful week ahead, Michael!

Do you see how loud the pie calling is?! I got carried away talking about PIES!

I totally forgot to mention to you that we are all ever so thankful for Liz and Bill Spear, Carol Williams and Kathy Streib's weekly posts. All 3 of them do far more for this community than the members see. They are unselfish 'givers' here that SO deserve this 'kudos' post - and more from each of us.

Thank you for posting this, Michael!

Debe Maxwell, CRS - you raise a very real concern in our society and unfortunately one where the bigger issue is not being truthfully(or maybe thoroughly) addressed.

Of course, my intent with this post was more lighthearted in nature even though many ideas combined in its creation.  Is that a goulash, a potpourri or something else???

Thanks for the mention!  Anyone who knows me knows I care a lot about this community and maintaining the culture that makes it worth coming back to daily.  While I may not be as visible as in my daily posting days, I'm still here lurking (mostly quietly).

And the benefit of going to someone else's home for Thanksgiving dinner?  No pie sitting on our kitchen counter afterwards begging to be consumed :)

Liz and Bill Spear - sometimes those "doggie bags" provided never seem to make their way to the puppies.  Your presence here is appreciated.  Truly a gift which deserves acknowledgment.

Occasionally, I do indulge in dessert but not often, Michael. I cannot afford a new wardrobe so go by this...Losing weight is hard. Maintaining weight is hard. Staying overweight is hard. Choose your hard.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS - I am not sure what to say.  Perhaps remaining silent is best.  I admit I have been using that strategy a lot lately.

Wanda Kubat-Nerdin - Wanda Can! - "win some, lose some" comes to mind while reading your comment.

Good morning Michael Jacobs ,

Just catching up with a few of your previous post and this one really made me smile! I waited 5 days to step on the sales after my trip to San Diego for Thanksgiving. Glad I waited!!

Roy Kelley - we might see some precipitation this week.   I am anticipating the arrival of storm watch warnings on television, radio, social media and wherever "such news" is broadcast.  Cue the town crier too.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX - thank you for the comment.  I am constantly playing a game of "catch up" in ActiveRain.  Commenting and replying both.
