Sunday Thoughts - End of November

For the first time since I have lived here, my HOA has a Christmas Lighting Contest and we all have to be finished by December 15th.   Many homeowners have already outdone themselves, and have their lights on at light.   Starting to look a bit like Christmas!

How many of you still have a packed refrigerator with leftovers?    Be sure not to leave them in there too long.....

I know the National News did a snippet on us, but Denver STILL has not had measurable snowfall.   In fact, we will hit 65 degrees today again.    Nothing in sight for at least the next week - it is to remain very nice.   Don't get me wrong, it is quite nice, but we sure do need some moisture.   There were flurries on Wednesday this week, but it did not stick.

Had friends over for dinner last night, made lasagna, salad, and garlic bread, and actually turned out very good.   (I am NOT a cook generally)   Wish I would have taken a photo before I put it in the oven, it was a good-looking pan!    We had fun catching up with this couple, as they are older, and haven't seen them since before COVID.    Lucy finally warmed up to Walter, and he actually got to pet her.

Happy Sunday!   Do something fun!

Hi Joan Cox - This is the first season that Rick is actually finished with the outdoor decorations and lights other than covering the plants and putting lights on them.  Our weather has been warm as well.  Normally we have had temps dip below 32º by the day after Thanksgiving.  Not yet.  Happy Sunday!

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® I have to put the flowers into the garage at night, as the temps so dip to low, but they are out during the day.

No leftovers here to speak of, Joan... of course, we went out for Thanksgiving Day lunch. I did roast a turkey breast last night and will make a casserole with the leftovers tonight. My neighborhood is having their Christmas tree lighting next week... the neighborhood is decked out like mad. It's actually a popular stop for many Charlotteans who like to see Christmas lights. We've gotten quite a reputation for our lights.

How nice! We don't have a decorating contest but many people do decorate. We do a few lights along the porch, on our weeping cherry tree and I think a few others. We also put up a tree. Many people in our neighborhood put up some sort of lights including Hanukkah lights. You can't help but be happy driving through.

This is a house located a mile or so from our house. He has his home professionally decorated for everyone to enjoy. Lights on Holt

Nina Hollander, Broker wish I could drive through your neighborhood and see all the gorgeous lights.    I would imagine, ours will be pretty spectacular here soon.

Carla Freund WOW that is quite the Christmas light show!   Wonder how much their electric bill for December, and if they get help paying it?

Yes, I've wondered the same. There are several homes in the area who do big light shows. I think it is their way of giving back. I know this particular person has a FB page. On it me mentions how he came to the US as a kid and didn't make it past a 3rd grade education. He is a self-made man. He is so grateful for the opportunities he has been given that he wants to give back. He has to have the PD help with traffic because it has become such a big success. This year he has a night just for people with kids who have disabilities and an evening for military families. He has other evenings that are open to the public.

Sunday is a great day. After lunch I did over a thousand open houses 1-3 and 3-5 for many weekends in a row....Now retired and telling my son to do it. I got more buyers and sellers by doing it 4 weeks in a row if not sold...

Eric, I am not a fan of open houses, as being female, you are a sitting duck waiting for a weirdo to walk through the door.

Hi Joan- I made a casserole out of our leftovers and that's it for turkey. Your lasagna sounds pretty good to me now.

Hi Joan,  Sounds like you have a great plan in moving forward into the Christmas Season.  Our leftovers are almost gone - can probably be finished up tomorrow.

Hello Joan - it looks as if your after-Thanksgiving Day activities are coming together festively.  Although some neighborhoods in my area have an organized Christmas decorating target, it seems kinda hit or miss as people try to create their holiday effort.

Michael Jacobs I drove through my neighborhood, and very few have put anything out so the judging won't be difficult.
