On November 29, 2021, National Association of Realtors® (NAR) reported that nationwide pending contract signed home sales higher 7.5% to an index of 125.2 in October of 2021 from September of 2021, but lower 1.4% from October of 2020.
Pending home sales index in the Northeast rose 6.9% to an index of 99.5 in October of 2021 from September 2020, but fell 10.0% from October of 2020.
Pending home sales index in the Midwest gained 11.8% to an index of 124.6 in October of 2021 from September 2020, and grew 5.1% from October of 2020.
Pending home sales index in the South jumped 8.0% to an index of 149.7 in October of 2021 from September 2020, and up 5.8% from October of 2020.
Pending home sales index in the West increased 2.1% to an index of 107.5 in October of 2021 from September 2020, but declined 6.2% from October of 2020.
Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, stated "The notable gain in October assures that total existing-home sales in 2021 will exceed 6 million, which will shape up to be the best performance in 15 years."
