The forces of high tide can be seen in this uprooted kelp tree. Our Pacific waters have kelp forests that feed marine life. They are a long distance from shore.
This picture was taken at the beginning of low tide, when the water recedes to its lowest point.
Sometimes, we see kelp that have rooted themselves to a large rock come up. On close examinations there are kind of shells that live at the root.
