Keeping it (in a) Brief

Yesterday, while at a remote closing, I needed a Kleenex so I reached into my briefcase to find one. Lucky for me I had planned ahead (at some unknown time of the past) and put one of those little packets in my briefcase. As I replenished my supply today I was thinking about my "history" of owning briefcases.

I don't remember what I carried in my Real Estate briefcase but I'm sure I had the essentials such as listing and purchasing contract and a few good pens.

Today, as a Notary Public, remote closing agent, I use two briefcases. The hard shell case on the left is only used for closings outside of my office but I carry the soft sided briefcase every business day during working hours.

So I'm just curious being I'm so "old school" and business methods have changed so much over the years: Do you carry a brief case?

I didn't keep a briefcase in my car but I did keep a file folder with necessary contracts for appointments and Open Houses. That was in the old days when we actually wrote contracts on paper, not on the computer.

That is a very good point Carol Williams as I never did do a contract without a wet signature.

I do not carry a briefcase and haven't since the 1980's when I was in the corporate world. I have beautiful leather handbags which have room for file folders, my small pc, wallet, phone, tablet, etc. And I have them in numerous colors... cream, teal, violet, etc. They are a conversation piece.

Nina Hollander, Broker I often refer to my brief case as my purse and I think that probably holds true for most men.

I have two brief cases that occupy a corner of my closet.  One (a Samsonite), has been with me for 40 years.

I carry a ladies portfolio (like a briefcase but it opens at the top like a big purse. It is special to me because my son gifted it to me on Christmas.

I have never even had a briefcase, but shortly after college, I had a need for something similar and still use the bag that I bought long ago.

Funny you should mention "bag" Brian England as I also had used one of those cloth shopping bags for over a year but I came to the realization it just was not real professional HOWEVER it sure worked well.

They say brevity is key.  but sometime is it it's more about being a person of integrity and knowing what you want so that you have to be brief because you have no time for nonsense, ya know ?
