As we enter the final month of 2021, I reflect on the results of this year’s past efforts and make my plan for next year. I’m fairly certain we all do this every December, realtors or not.
I conclude that for me personally the year was a successful one. To improve or repeat these results, I need to have a “new perspective” on the same things I have been doing to see more opportunities that surround me. From a realtor perspective, there have been times when I’ve walked by a house and noticed that something looked different - the grass was unkempt and looked as if it could have used a good watering. Clearly this could present an opportunity for a listing and offering help to someone in need. Sure enough, the next thing I knew there was a For Sale Sign on the property and it wasn’t mine.
Despite ‘doom and gloom’ headlines on various news platforms, I see developers continuing to build condominium and apartment buildings with more green space and open areas all over Los Angeles. Clearly, they remain focused on the long-term objectives they set out to achieve. After all, people will always need somewhere to live.
I get the sense that these savvy developers are confident that things will return to normal, even a new normal, within the next couple years. They have what I call “short term memory”, not living in the past and not afraid of the future unlike some of my potential buyers who ask, “is this a good time to buy or should I wait?” Perhaps I should give them the example of these savvy developers.
There seems to be a sense and expectation of recovery and growth. Currently I am in escrow on two properties and have another three listings on which it looks as if buyers are about to start negotiating. I would love to close on them by year end, nevertheless if we don’t, it will be a great start for 2022!
In conclusion, do not be hesitant because of what you read in the news; instead, buy or sell because of your own personal situation. I find that the media cares more about getting your attention over anything else. Wishing all of you a strong finish for 2021 and health and happiness over the next few weeks, with friends and family.
