Oyster Pie

By
Real Estate Broker/Owner with Hamm Homes

This is the recipe for the Oyster Pies that my mom made at the church for the oyster supper before she past away.  The last supper was 400 pies she made and they sold out.  The only problem I have now is finding Oyster crackers, they are big and round the size of a quarter.

18  oysters

20 oyster crackers

4 hard boil eggs

2 tbsp butter

sat and pepper to taste

1 cup milk.

Line 9 inch baking dish with pie dough.  Put layer crushed crackers in bottom.  Add a layer of oysters. then a layer of hard boil sliced eggs Repeat until dish is filled.  Add butter, salt and pepper.  Add milk until mixture is about 3/4 covered.  Cover with pastry top and bake until brown at 375 degree.  Serve with hot milk.

This is Pennsylvania Dutch recipe that goes way back to the 1950's

Good morning, Will... now, if I or my husband only ate oysters... but we don't! Sounds like a great recipe for the oyster lovers out there.

Hello Will - I don't recall ever eating oyster pie but I seem to remember seeing oyster crackers along an aisle in a grocery store.  Was it long ago, a dream or some other kind of memory???

That is a unique idea. Closest thing I could think of is baked dynamite at the sushi place

Will, Thanks for sharing. I've never heard of Oyster Pie. It seems it was good enough for Roy to share which is what brought me over. Happy Holidays!
