Joan - Wow that is a resource I am sure the town would not want to loose.   With existing economic condition this might be a decision other municipalities will face.

Jennifer~ This beautiful lake and beach front is a great asset to the Town of Hollis.  I will be interested to see what transpires.  The state was unable to provide lifeguards, restrooms or garbage pickup on Memorial Day - Perhaps this will be a great opportunity for Hollis.

Joan, It would be in a way a shame to lose this but I believe with certain restrictions, it could still remain a lovely place-and imagine owning a bit of heaven.

Joan sounds like a great opportunity for the town.  You have to do a follow up blog and let us know how the vote went.

Carole~ I would hate to see this gem closed because of lack of state funds.  It cannot continue the way it is now without a lifeguard and no bathrooms... I am hoping it is feasible for the town to particpate with the state to keep this beautiful park open.

George~  I live in the town next door so I don't have much of a say.  However, one of my very close Realtor(r) friends who is running for senate lives n Hollis so I plan to put a bug in his ear!  I will keep you posted.  I love this beautiful, little park.  I would hate to see if closed down.

Well Joan...Wouldn't this be a great use for LCHIP Funds? Preservation is their mission and this would actually benefit the community too! Just a thought!

Hi Joan...Oh, I hope the town is able to manage the purchase.  It would be such a plus.  Wouldn't it be wonderful to be filthy rich and be able to help with things like this?

Good luck and keep us posted.

Joan~  I am not sure what LCHIP is willing to do -- what an interesting idea.  I'll let my Realtor(r)/Senator contestant know about this idea -- thanks for the idea.. I'll keep you posted.

"Kate"  There certainly are a lot of affluent families in Hollis -- so I am hoping they will be able to make this happen.  It is such an asset.

Joan,
great invitation, I am not a great guy to be on the water, I prefer activities as ATV's :) anyway, this seems that will be very fun and interesting.

Ray~There is a lot to do in the park without going out on the water -- so I am sure you would enjoy a great picnic.  Hope all is well in Colorado --

Joan - this sounds like an excellent opportunity for the people of Hollis. I hope they can pull it off but not with LCHIP funds since they are now being funded by the new state fee on recordings (they realy snuck that into the back door on us)

My sister lives in Hollis.  I will have to check with her and see if she is going to the meeting.  It is a beautiful park!  I just rode by there yesterday and commented on how nice it is.

janeAnne ~  Silver Lake State Park is one of the little gems I discovered when I first moved to New Hampshire.  It is a great little park and I will be interested to see what develops.  I live on the Nashua Hollis line, but am in Nashua - so I won't be able to be very persuasive.  I would love to see this gem continue to sparkle.

Hi Judy -- I have been on public policy "forever" and the LCHIP is a great thing, however, it should not be shouldered by those who own property -- LCHIP should be funded as part of the overall budget-- this has long been the stance of NHAR!  The increase on the recording fees was better than an increase in the transfer tax - which is what would really be unfair to homeowners.  We will have to continue to be vigilent.

Sharon - glad you found me and it is great to meet you.  Please do make your sister aware of this meeting.  It should be interesting.  I would love to know what the citizens in Hollis think about the possibility of buying or leasing the park.  If you are ever this way, it would be great to meet in person.

Hi Bill:  This is a beautiful little park.  I actually live on the border between Hollis and Nashua - so I enjoy both towns and have a lot of expertise in these towns and towns near by.  It is a beautiful area.
