One of my friends near my age pointed out to me last week, I was an outgoing person, and that they weren’t. That friend of mine moved to Florida six months ago, got an apartment, and now he has sold his car! The grocery store is one mile away, Walmart is across the street from the grocery, and he can take Lyft.
Another friend of mine today, 28 years of age, called today and explained how I was an outgoing person and had helped him in Toastmasters. And from my call, he is coming back to where he had left the club, and what he called it, it seemed like he: ghosted me. HAVE YOU HEARD OF THAT TERM? LET ME KNOW… I had not. He said he just left the club over a year ago and did not say goodbye to me and was glad I called today. We talked for over an hour.
Folks if you d not know how precious life is, I suggest you get out, get on the phone (not text) and talk with some people you know, or USE TO KNOW.
Today started my application process to be a volunteer at the VA Hospital. Sometimes there I see men with a missing leg or two missing legs. Some outrageous situations. Fortunately, nothing like that ever happened to me, and they were just a few miles from where I was in Vietnam. And I have the mindset to not let it bother me, at least to the point I can help whoever needs help wherever I can be used on the hospital campus.
Pay a compliment to someone, hold the door, create a conversation, where you get to know someone and learn more about them. I did that today. This guy taking my fingerprints lived in Cleveland Ohio and used to eat Dan Dee Potato Chips. HOW I GOT MY NAME. And he wants to sell his home and buy another home!
